Fix Galaxy S10e that’s frozen on certain screen

The first issue that we’ll address is when your phone is powered on but got frozen on a certain screen or app. Most of the time, this issue is accompanied or preceded by lags and short freezes and after a few instances, the phone will just stop responding. But don’t worry because as long as the phone powers on, it’s just a minor issue and here’s what you need to do about it:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S10e logo shows on the screen.

Most of the time when the phone is frozen on a certain screen and as long as there are no signs of physical and liquid damage, it should respond by doing the forced restart procedure.

Fix Galaxy S10e that’s frozen on a black screen

When the phone is frozen on a black screen, it’s possible that you’re dealing with a power issue but not all the time a black screen means the phone is powered on. There are times when the display is just not responding but the device is actually powered on. Don’t worry, there’s always something you can do about it.

First solution: Forced restart

Just like in the first issue, the first thing you have to do if your Galaxy S10e is frozen on a black screen is to force reboot it because there’s always a chance that it’s due to a firmware crash. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S10e logo shows on the screen.

If your phone is still not responding after doing this, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Charge phone and perform the forced restart

It is possible that the battery got drained and the firmware crashed just before the phone powered down. As a result, you’re dealing with a couple of procedures that both result to an unresponsive phone. Here’s what you need to do to fix it:

  1. Plug the charger to a working wall outlet.
  2. Using the original cable, connect the phone to its charger.
  3. Regardless whether the phone shows the charging symbol or not, leave it connected to the charger for at least 10 minutes.
  4. After which and while the phone is still connected to the charger, press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  5. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  6. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S10e logo shows on the screen.

If the phone is still not responding even after doing these things, then you should bring it back to the store or shop so that a technician can check it up for you. However, if you were able to make your phone respond again but the problem occurs from time to time, then you must reset your and set it up as a new device. Before the reset, make sure to backup your files and data and then remove your Google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out. Once everything is ready, follow these steps to reset your phone:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Galaxy S10e logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy S10e will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
