How To Reset Netgear Router Password

It is always a good practice to reset your NETGEAR router password the first time you use it or when you want to secure it so that only you can access it.

To reset the admin password of your NETGEAR router

  • Open a web browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to your router.
  • Type http://routerlogin.net into your web browser’s address bar.
  • The login window displays.
  • Enter the router username and password.
  • The user name is admin and the default password is password.
  • The BASIC Home page displays.
  • Select ADVANCED > Administration > Set Password.
  • Type the old password, and type the new password twice.
  • To be able to recover the password in the future, select the Enable Password Recovery check box.
  • Click the Apply button.

To reset the Wi-Fi password of your NETGEAR router

  • Open a web browser and type http://www.routerlogin.net into the address bar.
  • Enter the router username and password when prompted.
  • The BASIC Home page displays.
  • Select Wireless.
  • Enter your new user name in the Name (SSID) field.
  • Enter your new password in the Password (Network Key) fields.
  • Click the Apply button.
  • Your changes are saved.
