How to Hard Reset or Master Reset your Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

A hard reset or master reset is the other method of resetting your Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus or any smartphone for that matter. Unlike the usual factory reset, this one requires the user to reboot the phone in recovery mode to have access to the reset option. Moreover, you don’t need your phone to successfully boot up to the home screen to be able to do this. In fact, it’s often done if the device cannot boot up properly or gets stuck on the boot screen.

Just like the factory reset, all your files and data will be deleted and all settings and configuration will be brought back to default. Most of the time this will fix firmware-related problems but if you decide to use this method, you must know your Google ID and its password as you may be locked out of your device without them. Once everything is ready, follow these steps to reset your Galaxy S10 Plus.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  7. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
