How to fix Youtube that keeps crashing on Samsung Galaxy S8 (easy steps)

First Solution: Reboot your Galaxy S8

If it’s the first time that Youtube crashed, then don’t do anything that could potentially mess up settings in your phone. Instead, reboot your device to refresh its memory as well as reload all core services.

There are times when the firmware and apps glitch and while they may seem like a serious problem, they’re not; you can fix them with a simple reboot. So, hit that Power key and take a little time rebooting it. After that, open Youtube to know if the app still crashes and if it does, try the Forced Reboot procedure.

Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power key together for 10 seconds. It will reboot your phone but during the process, the phone simulates battery disconnect. It’s effective against minor firmware glitches as well. If the problem occurs, then move on to the next step.

Second solution: Clear cache and data of Youtube

By doing this, you’re actually resetting the app and bringing it back to its factory default settings. If this problem is limited to the app only, then you can fix it by doing the following:

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
  3. Tap App Manager.
  4. Locate then tap Youtube.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Tap CLEAR CACHE.
  7. Tap Cached data.
  8. Tap CLEAR.

This is the most effective solution to almost all app-related problems but then there’s no guarantee that it will work to all cases. So, in case the problem continues after this, then the next method will definitely fix the problem.

Third solution: Reset your phone

The thing about pre-installed app is that you can never uninstall it just to get rid of the problem. So you really have to go through the hassle of doing the master reset. Transfer your files over to the SD card or your computer. After the backup, disable the Factory Reset Protection by removing your Google account from your phone so that you won’t be locked out of your device after the reset. Once everything is set and ready, follow these steps to reset your phone:

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Google account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Google credentials to finish the Master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
