  6. Press Windows key + E on your keyboard to open File Explorer
  7. Navigate to the following path: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.
  8. Right click SoftwareDistribution and click Delete from the drop down menu. All the contents on the folder will be deleted.
  9. Go back to Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter after each command
  10. Type net start wuauserv and press Enter
  11. Type net start bits and press Enter

Update Windows 10 again and then check if Error 0x80190001 still occurs.

Solution 5: Perform a Clean Boot

Third party softwares can cause issues on your computer and interferes with the update process. To fix error code 0x80190001 on Windows update, you may need to perform a clean boot on your computer.

To do this:

  1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open RUN dialog box
  2. At RUN dialog box, type msconfig and press Enter or click OK. This will open System Configuration

  9. Inside System Configuration window, click Startup
  10. Click Open Task Manager tab. A new window opens.
  11. Under start up tab, check the startup impact. Make sure to disable the one that has High Impact. Disable by right clicking and then clicking Disable from the drop down menu.
  12. Restart Computer.

After computer completely reboots in a clean boot, update Windows 10 again and then check if Error 0x80190001 still occurs.

Solution 6: Use Windows Media Creation tool

If none of the solutions above fix Error 0x80190001 problem during Windows 10 update, you may need to use the Windows Media Creation tool instead to update Windows. With this tool files will not be lost and Windows computer will be updated to the latest versions.
