When you get the error message “Moisture has been detected in the USB port. Immediately stop charging and disconnect the USB cable. Make sure the USB port and charging cable are completely free of moisture before charging.” this means that the phone has detected the presence of moisture in its charging port which is usually caused by getting the phone wet. What you will want to do in this case is to make sure that the phone is dry. Wipe the exterior part with a dry cloth then use a hair dryer to remove any moisture in the phone charging port. You can also let the moisture evaporate naturally by placing the phone in a cool dry place for a couple of hours. Once the phone is dry check if you are still getting the error message.

In case the issue persists or if it occurs even if the phone has not been in contact with water then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Make sure your phone software is updated

You should make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version first. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. You can connect your phone to a computer with the latest version of the LG PC Suite software to get the update.

Perform a soft reset

You will need to  refresh the phone software which can be done restarting the device. Although this is usually performed on an unresponsive phone it should also work in this case. To perform this procedure just press and hold the Power button and Volume Down until the device powers off, approximately 8 seconds, then release. Once this is done check if the LG Q Stylus charging blocked due to moisture detected error issue still occurs.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

Sometimes an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause issues on the phone when it is installed. This usually happens when the app has some bugs or has compatibility issues with your phone. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

• With the screen on, press and hold the Power key.
• In the options menu that displays, tap Power off and restart.
• The device will restart and the Safe mode overlay will no longer show on the screen.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

• From the Home screen, tap Settings.
• Tap the ‘General’ tab.
• Tap Storage > Internal storage.
• Wait for menu options to finish calculating.
• Tap Free up space.
• Tap Temporary files & raw files.
• Select the following options: Cached data, Clip tray temporary files, Raw files from camera.
• Tap Delete > DELETE

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the LG Q Stylus charging blocked due to moisture detected error issue then your last option is to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset as this will be deleted in the process.

• Turn off the device.
• Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
• When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
• When the ‘Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings’ message appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
• Press the Power button to reset the device.

Once the reset is complete setup your phone again, but don’t install any apps yet,  then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
