How to fix Samsung Galaxy S9 that’s stuck on Samsung logo or infinite bootloop (easy steps)
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is Samsung’s best smartphone yet and it’s a refinement and improvement of all its predecessors that packs very impressive hardware specifications and features. While it’s not free of problems and errors, you can reset assured that you may encounter fewer than what other smartphone owners may experience. But the point is, what would you do if a great phone like your Galaxy S9 has some issues?
Among the most common issues many Galaxy device owners have encountered is when the phone gets stuck on the logo or infinite boot loop. Regardless whether you have the former issue or the latter, you just have to troubleshoot the firmware of your phone because when it comes to boot issues, it’s always the firmware that we need to look into unless your phone suffered from either physical and/or liquid damage. If you’re one of the owners of this phone and are currently bugged by a similar concern, read on as this post may help you fix it.

What to do if your Galaxy S9 is stuck on logo or infinite boot loop
Assuming that your phone hasn’t been dropped on a hard surface or got submerged in water more than 30 minutes, then this problem should be with the firmware only. To make your Galaxy S9 boot up normally again, here’s what you should do:
First solution: Do the Forced Restart
I understand that your phone is either stuck on the logo or in boot loop but it should still respond to the forced restart procedure as it’s hard-wired to it; the same as any other smartphones with non-removable batteries.
To do it, press and hold the volume down and power keys together for 10 seconds or more. Your device will reboot normally if the procedure is done correctly assuming the problem is due to a minor firmware glitch. If it’s still stuck on the logo or in boot loop after doing this, then you should move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Try running it up in Safe Mode
There are apps that can cause too much trouble to your phone and it’s always possible that you may have downloaded it on your new Galaxy S9. Third-party apps can easily be disabled by running your phone up in safe mode and that’s what you need to do right now to rule out the possibility that this issue might be caused by a third-party application. To do so, follow these steps:
- Turn the device off.
- Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
- When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
- Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
- Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
- When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
If your phone actually boots up successfully in this mode, then you can already consider the problem fixed as the next thing you should do is find the app that’s causing it and then uninstall it. The moment the phone successfully starts in safe mode, you can rest assured that your phone’s firmware and hardware are both fine.
Now, here’s how you uninstall an app from your phone:
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Apps.
- Tap the desired application in the default list.
- To display preinstalled apps, tap Menu > Show system apps.
- Tap UNINSTALL > OK.
If your Galaxy S9, however, won’t boot up in safe mode successfully, then the following solution might work for you.
Third solution: Try booting your phone up in Recovery mode
If this is just a problem with the firmware no matter how serious it is, your phone should be able to run into Android system recovery or the Recovery Mode. From there, you can do a couple of things that could fix this problem and that’s to wipe the cache partition to delete all system caches and to do the Master Reset if the previous procedure doesn’t work.
How to boot Galaxy S9 in Recovery Mode and wipe cache partition
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
