Based on my personal experience, this kind of problem is only with the firmware although there is also a possibility that some of your apps have something to do with it. That’s the reason why you need to troubleshoot your phone and with all that being said, here’s what I suggest you do.

Reboot your Galaxy S8 first – before doing anything complicated, make sure to restart your phone because this problem could be just a result of a minor glitch in the system or the hardware. Glitches can easily be fixed by a reboot and more often than not, your phone will work perfectly after that. However, if the device still runs very slowly after a reboot, then you have to move on to the next step.

Run your phone in safe mode – by doing this, you’re temporarily disabling all third-party apps which may be the cause of the problem. So, continue using your phone like you normally do and observe it closely so that you would know if the device works faster in this mode because if it does, it’s a sign that points to your downloaded apps to be ones that cause the problem, although there could only be one or two apps that has something to do with it. Find that app and uninstall it to make your phone run perfectly again.

Wipe cache partition – assuming your phone is still slow in safe mode, the next thing you must do is delete all the system caches so that they will be replaced with new ones. There’s a possibility that some of them got corrupted or became obsolete after the update. If the firmware continues to use those files, performance issues may occur like this one. To delete the system cache, you have to reboot your phone in recovery mode and wipe the cache partition from there. You may refer to the next steps below to know how to do it.

Do the Master Reset – lastly, you have to do the master reset if the previous methods failed to fix the problem. A reset will bring the phone back to its factory settings and configuration. If the issue is with the firmware, then a reset is all it take to fix it. However, bear in mind that all your files and data will be deleted. So, you have to make a backup before doing this procedure as you may not be able to retrieve them once their erased.
