S3 Instagram Has Stopped & Snapchat Not Loading Messages

Problem: Ok, so I have two separate problems for two separate apps. The first is in the Instagram app. I just recieved this phone from the carrier FreedomPop which runs of Sprint towers. Insta was the first app I downloaded. I was able to sign in and check it for a little bit but after some time on the app or when in the background, the message “Unfortunately, Instagram has stopped working. The phone just came out of a factory reset and I soft reset to be sure but no luck. The next problem is with the Snapchat app. Also just downloaded and signed in so not a cache or data problem. None of my messages or stories are loading. it shows the loading symbol but after a min or so it goes back to touch to view or nothing happens. Please help!!!

Solution: First, check if your phone has any new software updates available and apply them. These updates may contain certain bug fixes that may resolve your app issues.

Next, for the Instagram issue try clearing the cache and data of the app first.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the More tab.
  • Tap Application manager.
  • Swipe to the Downloaded screen.
  • Tap the desired application
  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
  • Tap Clear cache.

If that does not work then uninstall the app and download it again from the Google Play Store.

Regarding the issue with Snapchat try to make sure first that the phone has a good Internet connection. Try checking if this issue occurs when connected to various Wi-Fi connections, you should also try using your mobile data connection. You should also try to login using a different account to check if the issue is account related.

S3 Ads Appear In Messaging App

Problem: I use the messaging app that’s been on the phone since I got it brand new… And now whenever I’m texting somebody ads will pop up on my screen… That never happened before the update that I did last week.

Solution: You may have installed a third party app in your phone that is causing these ads to pop up. Try to start your phone in Safe Mode to check if this is the case.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • When ‘Samsung Galaxy S III’ appears on the screen, release the Power key Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • ‘Safe mode’ will display in the bottom left corner of the screen. Release the Volume down key when you see ‘Safe Mode.’

If ads do not pop up in this mode then you need to find the app responsible for this and uninstall it.

If however ads still pop up then you should backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.
