Fixing Galaxy S10 Plus with delayed touchscreen
In troubleshooting a problem that could possibly be a hardware issue, you have to be thorough. You need to rule out every possibility so that you could provide accurate information to the technician if necessary. If it so happens that it’s just a firmware problem, then doing the following procedures should be able to fix it. Here’s what you need to do:
First solution: Isolate the problem immediately
You need to do if this is just due to some apps issues, firmware problem or a sign of a hardware damage. To do so, you have to restart your phone in Safe mode. Doing this will temporarily disable all third-party applications. So, if the delayed touchscreen issue doesn’t occur in safe mode, then it means that the problem is probably caused by one of the third-party apps you installed. Here’s how you reboot your S10 Plus in safe mode:
- Press and hold the Power key until options show.
- Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode.
- Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
- Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen.
Assuming that the problem is fixed while the phone is in this mode, look for the app that’s causing the problem. Restart your phone normally to boot up in normal mode. After that, open the apps that you suspect are causing the problem. Start with apps that you installed about the time the problem started. Here’s how you uninstall an app from your device:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
- Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
- Scroll to and then tap Apps.
- Find and tap the app you suspect.
- Tap Storage.
- Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
- Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
- Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.
On the other hand, if your phone still has a delayed touchscreen even in safe mode, then it’s probably just with the firmware. Move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Reset all settings
It is possible that the reason why your Galaxy S10 Plus has a delayed touchscreen response could be due to some settings that were inadvertently changed and are already in conflict with your phone’s normal operation. To rule this possibility out, do this:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
- Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
- Scroll to and tap General management.
- Touch Reset.
- Tap Reset settings.
- Tap the Reset settings button.
- If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
- Finally, tap Reset.
- Restart your phone to refresh its memory.
Once the device has rebooted, observe closely to see if it still has a delayed touchscreen response. If so, try the next solution.
Third solution: Delete the system cache
The delayed touchscreen response on your Galaxy S10 Plus could be just a sign of a performance issue that’s caused by some corrupt system cache. These files are pretty important in making your phone run smoothly but there are times when they get corrupted or become obsolete especially after a firmware update. There’s an easy way to rule this possibility out and that’s to wipe the cache partition. Here’s how it’s done on your phone:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Galaxy S10+ logo shows, release all three keys.
- Your Galaxy S10 Plus will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
It may take for your phone a little longer to boot up after this as it rebuilds the cache. But if the problem continues after this, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone
This is your last resort. If the delayed touchscreen is just an issue with the firmware, then a master reset will fix it. However, after the reset and the problem continues, then it’s the perfect time to take that trip to the store or shop and let the phone be checked by a technician.
Before the reset, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted. I know it’s a pain when the phone isn’t as responsive as it should but just be patient as you may lose some important files. After the reset, it’s best to remove your Google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out of your device. Once everything is set, follow these steps to reset your phone:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Galaxy S10+ logo shows, release all three keys.
- Your Galaxy S10 Plus will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
After the reset, set up your phone and then observe if the delayed touchscreen still occurs. If it still does, then it’s time for the tech to check your phone.
