How to fix Samsung Galaxy Note 9 delayed touchscreen response

Delayed touchscreen responses are minor issues especially if they’re not accompanied by freezes or sluggishness when opening apps and other functions. What to do with Galaxy Note 9 with delayed touch screen response

This can be considered as one of the performance problems you may encounter every now and then but it doesn’t mean that it’s a serious issue. Most of the time, this kind of problem can be due to an app or two. You need to troubleshoot your phone to determine what the problem is. With that said, here’s what you need to do…

Solution 1: Perform the Forced Reboot

This will refresh your phone’s memory as well as reload all its apps and services. If the touchscreen issues you encountered are due to minor system glitch or firmware problem, then this is all you need to do.

1. Press and hold the volume down button and don’t release it yet.
2. While holding down the volume down button, press and hold the power key.
3. Keep both keys held down together for 10 seconds or more.

This will reboot the phone like it normally does but it also refreshes the memory. After this, try to see if the touchscreen problem you have disappeared because if not, then proceed to the next solution.

Solution 2: Run the phone in Safe Mode

If the forced reboot didn’t fix the problem, then it’s possible that the issue is caused by a third-party app. You need to verify it first that’s why you have to run your device in safe mode to temporarily disable all third-party applications. Here’s how you do that:

1. Turn the device off.
2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
3. When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
6. When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.

If your phone’s response becomes normal while in this mode, then it means here’s an application that’s causing the problem. Find out which app causes it and uninstall it to fix the problem.

Solution 3: Wipe cache partition

There are times when the system’s cache get corrupted and when it happens, performance issues may occur. Issues like sluggishness and unresponsive touch screen may happen to your phone and to rule this possibility out, you need to wipe the cache partition. Here’s how it’s done…

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
3. When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
4. An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
6. Press Power key to select.
7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Your phone may take a little while to boot up after this, but once it becomes active, try to see if the problems are fixed or not.

Solution 4: Reset your phone

As long as there are no signs of physical or liquid damage, this kind of problem can be fixed by a reset. That’s what you need to do if everything else failed to fix it. However, before you do that, make sure to make a backup of your important files and data as they will be deleted during the process. Once everything is ready, follow these steps to reset your phone:

1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Samsung account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Samsung credentials to finish the master reset.
2. Turn off the device.
3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
4. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
6. Press Power button to select.
7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
