How To Fix Samsung Galaxy A6 No Cellular Network Available Error

Problem: Thanks in advance for your help. My issue details are as follows. My phone is a galaxy A6 which I purchased last month unlocked in the US and has no problem until now. When I try to dial a number I have typed in it says No Cellular Network available. Connect to a wifi network to make calls. If I dial something from my address book it works. I travel a lot and this issue has persisted in Australia, Dubai and Singapore using their local sim cards. Troubleshooting thus far: tried to turn off volte but can’t find the settings for this. Spoke to carrier in Australia and they turned off wifi calling on the carrier side and I still had the issue. I did a network reset and a phone reset (not the full wipe). I switched sim cards with another person and my sim worked in their phone and their sim had the same problem when they put it in my phone. I went into apps and did a manual Stop of the wifi calling app. None of the above helped. I’m at a loss for what to do.

Solution: Before performing any troubleshooting steps it’s best to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first in the phone.

Perform a soft reset

The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to restart the phone by doing a soft reset. This will refresh the phone software and will usually fix this particular problem.

  • Hold the Power button for 3-5 seconds.
  • Tap Power off.
  • Tap Power off.
  • When the device has shut down completely, wait approximately one minute. This will help make sure that the cache and temporary files are wiped from the device.
  • Press and hold the Power button to switch it back on.

Clear the cache and data of the Phone app

The phone app of the device will usually have cached data which can become corrupted. When this happens you will experience issues when making phone calls. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you should try clearing the cache and data of the phone app from the application manager.

  • From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  • Go to Settings then Apps
  • Ensure All apps is selected (upper-left).
  • Locate then select the Phone app
  • Tap Storage.
  • Tap CLEAR CACHE.
  • Go back to the Home screen then go to Settings- Device maintenance – Storage
  • Tap CLEAN NOW.

Check if the problem occurs in Safe Mode

There are instances when an app you downloaded can cause this particular problem. The best way to check if this is the case is to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power key past the screen with the device name.
  • When ‘SAMSUNG’ appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Release the Volume down key when you see ‘Safe Mode’.

If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by one of the apps you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

Your phone will usually store cached data in a special partition in the device. This data helps apps run faster making for a better mobile experience. There are however instances when this cached data can become corrupted and can cause issues with the device. To check if this is what’s causing the problem you should wipe the cache partition of the phone.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Perform a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step you should perform in case the above steps fails to fix the problem is a factory reset. This will revert the phone back to its original factory condition. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this step.

  • Make sure that the phone is off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.
