How to fix Samsung Galaxy A5 with Pandora app that keeps crashing (easy steps)
In the past few weeks, we’ve received quite a lot of app-related concerns from our readers and among the applications that were reportedly keep on crashing is Pandora. I’ve been using the app for the last couple of years already and I’ve never encountered having issues as ones that were reported to us. So, personally, I think the problems that were reported could be just minor issues and needless to say, they’re pretty easy to fix.
If you’re one of the owners of the Samsung Galaxy A5 who contacted us about a Pandora problem, then continue reading as this post may help you get rid of it. More often, when an app crashes, it will immediately force close shortly after it’s opened but there are times when you can still actually use it for a few minutes before it closes. However, the most common sign of an app crash is when you get the error that, in this case, says “Unfortunately, Pandora has stopped.”
But before we actually move on to our troubleshooting, if you have other issues with your phone, then visit our Galaxy A5 troubleshooting page as we’ve already addressed some of the most common problems with this device. What to do if Pandora keeps crashing on your Galaxy A5?
The following solutions have already been proved to fix any app-related issues and we will be using them to fix your problem with Pandora. You may not have to use all of them but I hope you have the patience to troubleshoot your phone. Now, to begin our troubleshooting, here’s what I suggest you do about this problem…
First solution: Reboot your phone
If it’s the first you’re having issues with Pandora, then don’t do something that’s complicated yet. Instead, take time to reboot your phone if you haven’t already because there’s a chance that the problem is actually just a result of a minor glitch in either the firmware or hardware. So, hit that power key and restart your phone. After which, try opening Pandora to see if it still crashes and if so, then try doing the Forced Restart which is far more effective than the normal reboot as it refreshes the phone’s memory, closes all apps running in the background and reloads all core functions and services.
- Press and hold the volume down button and power key at the same time and hold them down for 10 seconds or more.
After doing this and your phone is still having issues with Pandora, then move on to other solutions.
Second solution: Clear the cache and data of Pandora
By doing this, you’re actually resetting the app and deleting all the files it created as well as those that were created by the firmware to make it run smoothly. If the problem is due to some corrupt files and caches, then this procedure can fix it that’s why it’s worth a try.
- From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
- From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
- Tap App Manager.
- Locate then tap Pandora.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap CLEAR CACHE.
- Tap Cached data.
- Tap CLEAR.
Reboot your phone after doing this and then try to see if the problem continues. If it does, then try the next solution.
Third solution: Uninstall Pandora from your Galaxy A5 and reinstall it
For minor app issues, an update would be enough to fix them however, there are times when the problem is more than what we think it is that’s why it’s better to simply uninstall the app and reinstall it. I will explain further below but try to follow these steps to uninstall Pandora from your phone. Don’t worry, none of your files or data will be deleted if you did this:
- From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
- From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
- Tap App Manager.
- Locate then tap Pandora.
- Tap UNINSTALL.
- Review the notification then tap OK to confirm.
- Reboot your phone to refresh it’s memory and other connections.
By uninstalling Pandora from your phone, you’re actually removing all its associations with other apps and firmware including all the files it created. There will never be a trace of Pandora in your phone after this. Then you will have to reinstall it so that you can rest assured you have the latest version of the app running on your phone and this is how you do that:
- From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
- Tap Play Store.
- Type ‘pandora’ in the search box.
- Select Pandora then tap Install.
- To continue, review the required app permissions then tap Accept.
After this and the app still crashes, then we can now assume that the problem is with the firmware or at least, in one of the pre-installed apps. However, it’s better that we troubleshoot the firmware now since all pre-installed apps are embedded in it.
Fourth solution: Delete all system caches
The firmware creates a cache for every app and service so they could run smoothly which would also result to buttery smooth performance of your phone. However, there are times when those files get corrupted and when it happens, performance issues may occur which include app crashes. By deleting those files, you’re actually instructing your device to replace them with new ones and this is how you do that:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
- Press the Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
After this, open Pandora to see if it still crashes or not anymore. If it still does, then you have no other choice but to do the next solution.
Fifth solution: Perform the Master Reset (if necessary)
A master reset can fix any app related problems but the reason why we’re always hesitant to suggest this is because you may lose some of your important files and data. Making a backup won’t ensure that you won’t lose a file but since we’ve done everything to fix this problem to no avail, then it’s time you considered this. It’s up to you to weigh in if Pandora is worth a reset or if you can live without the app. In case you decide to go with the reset, do your best to make a backup of things you don’t want to lose. After which, just before the reset, remove your google account from your phone and then follow these steps to proceed to the reset:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
