How to troubleshoot Huawei Mate 10 Pro with WiFi that keeps dropping or unstable
Before you begin to troubleshoot, check and ensure that your phone software is up to date. You can check for the latest update available for your device first. If an update is available, try to update your phone first and see if that will fix the problem. Software updates also contain bug fixes to address existing issues including Wi-Fi Internet errors. If that won’t work, then feel free to refer to the following solutions.
First solution: Reboot your wireless router/modem.
Wireless routers and modem also encounter firmware errors and when this happens, network connectivity issues instigate. As resolution, you can reboot your wireless router or modem at home. This would be necessary if all your devices are experiencing the same intermittent connections using the same Wi-Fi network. Here’s what you should do then:
- Locate the Power switch on your wireless router or modem then switch off the network equipment.
- When the router/modem is completely powered off, unplug the A/C adapter from the power source. Keep it unplugged for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- After the elapsed time, plug the adapter back in to the power source then turn on the network equipment.
- Wait until all the light indicators go steady. If you see a red light on the Signal strength indicator, wait until it turns green or blue. A red light usually denotes a problem like no signal or no service.
If everything looks good on the network equipment, then your Internet should be working as intended. Otherwise, continue to troubleshoot your phone software.
Second solution: Turn Wi-Fi off and on and then do a soft reset.
A simple trick that has helped a lot of people when dealing with minor Internet problems on their Android smartphones is by toggling Wi-Fi off and on. It somehow refreshes the phone’s Wi-Fi internet connection and clears minor glitches affecting the Wi-Fi network in use. Here’s how it’s done:
- Tap Settings from the Home screen.
- Tap Wireless & networks.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Toggle to Wi-Fi switch to turn Wi-Fi off for a few seconds and then turn on again.
Alternatively, you can turn Airplane mode on for about 30 seconds and then turn it off again. Wireless connectivity features are automatically turned off when Airplane mode is enabled. So, it’s also another way of restarting your phone’s wireless internet functions.
After turning Wi-Fi off and on, restart your device (soft reset). Doing so will clears any software glitches and refreshes the phone system.
Third solution: Delete Wi-Fi and reset APN settings on your phone.
Network connectivity issues can also be resolved by resetting the APN settings on the phone. Doing so will erase your Wi-Fi network and mobile data networks. Here’s how it’s done:
- Tap Settings from the Home screen.
- Tap Wireless & networks.
- Tap to select Mobile network from the given options.
- Scroll to and tap Access Point Name.
- Tap the Menu icon (three vertical dots) on the upper-right corner of the APNs screen.
- Select Reset to default option.
Your device will then reset to its default Internet settings. Network problems should already be solved at this point. Restart your phone again to ensure new changes are properly implemented. After the restart, turn on Wi-Fi then reconnection to your wireless network. Check and see if it is already working stable.
Fourth solution: Reset network settings on your Huawei Mate 10 Pro.
Invalid or incorrect network settings might also have inflicted troubles with your phone’s wireless Internet functions and thereby results to intermittent connectivity or Internet drops. To rule this out, you can reset the network settings and then set up your Wi-Fi network to reconnect to the Internet. To reset network settings on a Huawei Mate 10 Pro, follow these steps:
- Tap on the Apps Menu then select Settings.
