M8 Changes Volume Constantly

Problem: Ok so my volume regardless of using the audio Jack with spontaneously change volumes louder or softer not only for a few seconds and I have no clue what’s going on.

Solution: There are many possible reasons why this issue is occurring. You should start the troubleshooting by checking if a third party app installed in your phone is causing this problem. To do this you need to start your phone in Safe Mode.

  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.
  • When the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ message appears, tap RESTART.
  • When the phone restarts it will be in safe mode.

If the issue does not occur in this mode then it may be caused by an app. Find the app that is causing this and uninstall it.

If the issue still persists even in Safe Mode then try wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
  • Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
  • The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
  • Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
  • Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
  • Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
  • Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.

If wiping the cache partition fails to fix the issue then back up your phone data then do a factory reset.

  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.

M8 External Speaker Not Working

Problem: I am having a issue with the external speakers on the phone.  When I watch a video clip on my Facebook thread or try and watch YouTube clips/Netflix sound rarely works now.  Also have the same issue with my music player.  I have closed every single window and application and still nothing.  At this point I’m not too sure what to do as the only time it works is when something is plugged in the headphone jack. Please help!!!

Solution: Before troubleshooting the issue make sure that the volume of your phone is set to its maximum level. If it is already set to its maximum level then there’s a possibility that the external speaker of your phone may already be faulty. What you need to do is to back up your phone data and do a factory reset.

Check the external speaker if it works. If it doesn’t then this is already a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

M8 Earbud Volume Dropped

Problem: Hello my mom gifted me a htc one m8 harman kardon edition and it works great the problem is that. I once cleaned the earbuds with a cotton bud and just after the volume dropped i am so scared please help me!!

Solution: First, make sure that you have set the volume to its maximum level. Next, try using a different pair of earbuds on your phone and check if it works. If it works then the earbuds that you have may be faulty.

M8 Volume Drops To Zero

Problem: Hi there! So I’ve been using my HTC One m8 for about a year now and about a week ago I started noticing that my phones volume would drop to 0. This happens usually when I’m listening to music, or it happens when my phone is locked. I thought it was just a software glitch at first but when I press the volume down button nothing happens and apart from that the power button has also stopped working. I don’t know if this happened because of some sort of glitch in the software or because I dropped it a couple of weeks ago. I’m pretty much clueless as to what measures to take to fix my phone. Edit: I tried pressing the volume down button harder than usual and 5 seconds later and as I am typing this the music volume keeps popping up and decreases to zero

Solution: Check first if this issue is caused by a third party app installed in your phone by booting to Safe Mode.

  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.
  • When the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ message appears, tap RESTART.
  • When the phone restarts it will be in safe mode.

If your volume does not decrease on its own in this mode then the problem may be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem still persists in this mode then you will have to do a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.

If the factory reset fails to resolve the problem then this may already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.

  1. My M8’s power button keeps on pressing by itself(although not physically but the system keeps on responding as if the power button is being pressed constantly; sometimes press-unpress cycles and sometimes continuous press such that the phone restarts itself even when it is lying on a table at rest; After the restart, all the settings in the “Settings” are set to default settings as if I have started the phone after a factory reset). This pressing of power button and consequent locking of screen happens maximum while watching videos on YouTube, not much the rest of the times. Also during browsing through videos in YouTube, it does not happen much. The other thing that pops up, especially while watching a video on YouTube is that a message stating, “Hold the volume up button for 10 seconds to restart your phone.” appears!
