Fix #1: Check the cable, charger, and wall outlet first
A software update often gets blamed when the real issue is a weak adapter or damaged cable.
- Try another USB-C cable and Samsung-compatible fast charger.
- Plug directly into a wall outlet.
- Avoid testing through a laptop port or low-power hub.
Fix #2: Clean the USB-C port carefully
Lint inside the port can stop charging immediately after an update reboot, making it look like a firmware issue.
- Turn off the phone.
- Use a wooden toothpick or soft brush to remove visible debris.
- Do not use metal tools in the port.
Fix #3: Force restart while the charger is connected
Charging services can hang after a firmware install.
- Plug in the charger.
- Press and hold Volume Down and the Side button for around 10 seconds.
- Check whether the charging icon appears after reboot.
Fix #4: Turn off Fast Charging and test again
Some post-update charging failures affect fast charging negotiation only.
- Go to Settings > Battery > Charging settings.
- Turn off Fast charging temporarily.
- Connect the charger again and see whether normal charging starts.
Fix #5: Charge in Safe Mode
If charging works in Safe Mode, a third-party app may be interfering with USB or battery services.
- Enter Safe mode from the power menu.
- Connect the charger and wait a minute.
- Uninstall recently added battery, cleaner, or automation apps if charging works there.
Fix #6: Wipe the cache partition
Corrupted system cache can break charging behavior after updates.
- Boot into Recovery Mode.
- Choose Wipe cache partition.
- Reboot and test charging again.
Fix #7: Install the next patch or use wireless charging as a temporary workaround
Samsung sometimes ships a quick fix for update-related charging bugs.
- Open Settings > Software update > Download and install.
- Install any newer build if available.
- If wired charging still fails but wireless works, back up your data and book service.
