How to Fix Galaxy S25 Overheating During Normal Use

A number of Galaxy S25 users report that their phone runs unusually hot during normal use. The following fixes address the most common causes of overheating.

Fix #1: Close Background Apps

Multiple apps running simultaneously on the Galaxy S25 push the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor hard and generate heat.

  1. Tap the Recents button (or swipe up and hold).
  2. Tap Close All.

Fix #2: Remove the Case

Thick or poorly ventilated cases trap heat. Remove the case and let the phone cool for a few minutes.

Fix #3: Force Restart

  1. Press and hold Volume Down + Power for about 10 seconds.

Fix #4: Disable 5G

5G radios generate more heat than LTE.

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Mode.
  2. Select LTE/3G/2G.

Fix #5: Optimize Device

  1. Go to Settings > Battery and Device Care.
  2. Tap Optimize Now.

Fix #6: Wipe Cache Partition

  1. Turn off the phone.
  2. Hold Volume Up + Power to enter Recovery Mode.
  3. Select Wipe Cache Partition.
