  1. Press CRTL + Shift + ESC keys on your keyboard to open Task Manager.

Method 4: Turn DEP ON

  1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open RUN dialog box.
  2. At RUN dialog box, type “sysdm.cpl” and press Enter or click OK to open System Properties.
  3. Inside System Properties, click Advanced tab.
  4. Click “Settings” tab under Performance. A new window opens.
  5. Click Data Execution Performance section tab.
  6. Click the option “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select”
  7. Click “Add” tab
  8. Navigate to the following address: C:\\Windows\System32\folder , for a 32-bit windows OR C:\\Windows\SysWOW64\Folder for a 64-bit windows.
  9. Locate file “dllhost.exe” and double click
  10. A prompt message appears, click OK if you are okay with it.
  11. Click Apply to apply changes made.
  12. Click OK to exit Performance Options windows.
  13. Exit System Properties.
  14. Restart your computer.

Once computer completely reboots, check if File Is Open In COM Surrogate Error on Windows 10 still occurs.
