When there’s a firmware update, the app may also be updated but more often than not, Facebook rolls out updates for their apps regardless whether there’s a firmware update or not. In this post, I will walk you through in troubleshooting your Galaxy S8 with some issues with Facebook app. We will try to rule out every possibility so we can determine what the problem really is and what needs to be done to fix it. How to troubleshoot Galaxy S8 with Facebook app that keeps crashing
Most of the time this problem is a minor one and can be fixed by one of the following procedures. Try to find out what works for you…
Reboot your phone – if it’s the first time that the problem occurred, you should try restarting it as the issue may be just a result of a minor glitch in the system. If such is the case, then a reboot is more than enough to fix it. I would also suggest doing the forced reboot by pressing and holding the volume down button and power key at the same time for 10 seconds or more.
Clear cache and data of Facebook app – this will reset the app back to its default settings and configuration. Assuming that the issue is limited to the app only, then this is enough to make Facebook work perfectly again. Don’t worry, you won’t lose any of your pictures and posts on your timeline. However, you will need to login to your account again after doing this. If the problem continues to bug after doing this procedure, then move on to the next step.
Find out if there’s an update for the app – most of the time, when there’s a firmware update, pre-installed apps are also being updated together with the system. Facebook, on the other hand, makes it a point to update its apps regularly so it’s possible that there’s an update available for it. Go into the Play Store and go to My Apps section to find out. If there’s an update, then update it but if there’s none, the move on to the next procedure.
Wipe cache partition – it’s also important to do this procedure because there’s always a possibility that the problem is a result of some corrupt system caches. The best way to rule out this possibility is to run the phone in recovery mode and wipe the cache partition so that all system caches will be deleted and replaced with new ones.
Perform the Master Reset – after wiping the cache partition and the phone still has some issues with Facebook or any other apps for that matter, then you have no other choice but to reset your phone. Any app-related concerns will be fixed by this method however, make sure to backup your important files and data as they will be deleted during the process.

How to clear Facebook cache and data
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Apps.
- Tap Facebook.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
- Tap Clear cache.
How to update an app on your Galaxy S8
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Play Store.
- Tap the Menu key and then tap My Apps. To keep your apps automatically updated, tap the Menu > Settings then tap Auto-update apps to select the check box.
- Tap Facebook and then tap Update to update it. If there’s no available update, the button will be greyed out.
How to wipe cache partition on your Galaxy S8
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition.”
- Press the Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
How to Master Reset your Galaxy S8
- Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Google account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Google credentials to finish the Master reset.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
