Solution 3: Change to Google DNS server on DNS Settings

Most of the DNS (Domain Name System) related issues can be fixed by changing DNS servers using Google Public DNS server.  Change the DNS settings on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) on DNS server addresses for the preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server and then check if the error will be resolved.

To do this:

  1. Press Windows key + I on your keyboard to open Windows settings section.
  2. Inside Windows Settings, click Network & Internet
  3. Under Advanced network settings of network status, click Change Adapter options. A new window opens.
  4. Inside Network Connections window, right click on your network and click Properties from the drop down menu.
  5. Under Wi-Fi Properties, click Networking tab.
  6. Scroll down and double click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) to open it.
  7. Click on the option “Use the following DNS server addresses”
  8. Input 8.8.8.8 as Preferred DNS server.
  9. Input 8.8.4.4 as Alternate DNS server
  10. Click OK to apply changes made.

Relaunch Google Chrome again and then check if ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE error in Google Chrome Browser on Windows 10 still occurs

Solution 4: Clear Browsing Data cache

The history and cookies when browsing a website are normally stored in the browsers cache system. If there are corrupt files present, it can be the cause for the error message to appear. Therefore, clearing browsing data cache can help fix the error message.

To do this:

  1. Launch Google chrome
  2. Click on the 3 vertical dots located at the upper right.
  3. Click More tools from the drop down menu.
  4. Click Clear browsing data from the drop down menu, a new window opens.
  5. At new window, you can choose the Time range from when computer started to experience the error. Or you can choose ALL time option.
  6. Make sure all options below time range are checked
  7. Click clear data to start clearing browser cache. wait for it to complete.
  8. Exit Google Chrome
  9. Restart computer.

Solution 5: Temporarily Disable Antivirus Program

For AVG:

  1. Double-click on AVG icon located at on system tray
  2. Click Temporarily disable AVG protection.
  3. Select how long you want AVG to be turned off and whether you want AVG to disable its Firewall too. Click on OK to disable the antivirus program.

For McAfee:

  1. Double-click on McAfee icon located at on system tray.
  2. Click Exit.
  3. A dialog box warning you that McAfee protection will be turned off, click Yes to disable the antivirus program.

For Avast:

  1. Double-click on Avast icon located at computer system tray.
  2. Click Avast shields control.
  3. Locate the options to disable the program – the options are to disable it for 10 minutes, an hour, until the computer is restarted or permanently (until you yourself turn it back on). Select whatever option suits you best and use it to disable the program.

Relaunch Google Chrome again and then check if ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE error in Google Chrome on Windows 10 still occurs.

Solution 6: Reset Network Settings

If you are having issues with the network settings, it can cause error message to appear wherein the URL address cannot be reached. To fix this, you may need to reset network settings from the command prompt.

  4. Type ipconfig/release and press Enter .

  7. Type ipconfig/renew and press the Enter key.
  8. Type netsh int ip set dns and press the Enter key.
  9. Type netsh winsock reset and press the Enter key.
  10. Type ipconfig/renew and press the Enter key.
  11. Restart computer.

Solution 7: Reset TCP/IP

TCP/IP is a internet protocol component that is needed for users to be able to make a connection with the internet. However when TCP/IP gets corrupted it can cause error to appear thereby users are unable to load a webpage. Try to reset the TCP/IP of your computer to help fix the issue.

  1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open RUN dialog box.
  2. At RUN dialog box, type “cmd” then simultaneously press “Shift” + “Ctrl” + “Enter” keys to give administrative access.

  4. Restart computer.
