Before you troubleshoot software issues that might have caused your device to charge very slowly, check and do the following:

  • Use only the original (Samsung-supplied) charger. Make sure you are using the original charger when charging your phone as the amperage on chargers can differ. If you need to replace your charger, choose an alternative charger with the amperage that is appropriate or compatible with your device.
  • Charge your phone from a power source. The power source or where you plug in your device will likewise affect the charging time. As recommended, charge your device directly from a power outlet as it charges your phone faster than plugging it into a laptop computer or other power accessories. Also ensure no damage to any of your charging equipment, charging port, and power source.
  • Don’t use your phone while charging. It’s expected for the charging time to take longer if  you simultaneously charge and use your device.
  • Quit all background apps while charging. While these apps are in standby mode, they’re still running in the background thus consuming power. The more apps you left in standby mode, the longer it would take for the battery to become fully charged. If possible, power off device while charging.
