That said, you could easily where your Galaxy Watch or Huawei Watch 2 to work and have it look extremely stylish. But when you get home, due to the variety of functionality available, you could easily take it out on a run or jog and have it log steps taken, distance ran, calories burned, heart rate, and more.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Watch and the Huawei Watch 2 might appear the same in function, but they’re actually really different smartwatches. If you follow along below, we’re going to pit the two against each other and show you which one is best.

Samsung Galaxy Watch

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is an excellent smartwatch for work and for play. Depending on the combination you get, the Galaxy Watch can be a stylish business watch with a ton of practical features inside. You can get it in a handful of different colors and styles, and then you can swap your watch bands out for something that you like or that better blends in with the watch.

One of more most notable improvements in the Galaxy Watch this year is the sweet and elegant rotating bezel and then the smoothness of the touchscreen navigation. Overall, it really is an elegant design that you can use in your professional life, but when you get home, you don’t have to worry about ruining it as a “sport” watch.

This one actually has multiple “sport” functions built in. One of the “cons” to the Galaxy Watch is that it’s essentially using the same software as last year. There’s actually not a whole lot that’s new here, unfortunately. There are some slight improvements to it; however, you still get much of the same sport-tracking features. You can expect to see things like step tracking, heart rate, distance traveled, calories burned, and more. Depending on the apps that you use with the Galaxy Watch, you can even map your routes you take.

Overall, the Galaxy Watch is one of our favorites because of the versatility between work and play.

Huawei Watch 2

The Huawei Watch 2 is next up on our list. It might not be nearly as marketed as the Galaxy Watch, but this one is still an excellent smartwatch worth considering. Similar to the Galaxy Watch, this one can easily be used for both work and play. It has an extremely stylish design, so you can easily use this one in your professional lifestyle. The watch band it comes with is really attractive as well, so you don’t have to worry about swapping it out with a more stylish one for work.

Once you’re done at work though, the Huawei Watch 2 is the perfect smartwatch for a variety of “sport” functions. The Huawei Watch 2 is actually really good at this. There are a handful of functions that are really similar to the Galaxy Watch — you get things like continuous heart rate monitoring, steps taken, calories burned, distance traveled and more. It’s a great way to track your workouts without your smartphone.

One of the more unique aspects to the Huawei Watch 2 is the included “workout coach” software, which helps motivate you and give you real-time workout data. The Huawei Watch 2 even has built-in functions to keep track of your sleep. Not only that, but it has excellent battery life so that it can continuously keep track of your sleep all night long.

Since the Huawei Watch 2 runs on Android Wear, you can expand a lot of its “sport” functions by downloading new apps (i.e. MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, various workout apps, etc).
