Galaxy Watch Active2 Now Official with ECG and LTE

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Active is not even a year old, and the company was believed to be working on a successor already. Well, that successor is now official in the form of the Galaxy Watch Active2. However, its arrival was barely a secret as it was leaked multiple times in the past until Samsung eventually decided to tease the smartwatch.

The wearable will be available in two sizes – 40mm and 44mm, with aluminum and stainless steel editions available at launch. Customers get to choose between LTE and non-LTE (Wi-Fi) models, while ECG (electrocardiogram) is a standard feature across models. Samsung is utilizing 8 LEDs on board for this feature which greatly helps provide accurate performance each time. The Galaxy Watch Active2 can also keep an eye on your stress levels.

Among its other features are the ability to track 39 types of workouts, so one can safely say that the smartwatch is packed with fitness oriented features. Thanks to the sensors on board, customers also get comprehensive sleep tracking with the Galaxy Watch Active2. This wearable is quite durable too and comes with Gorilla Glass DX+ which offers improved protection against scratching and scuffing.

The watch is IP68 certified and offers 5ATM water resistance, which means you can also use this wearable to track swimming laps. The overall durability of the wearable is bolstered thanks to the MIL-STD-810G certification. The watch is supplemented by the popular Calm app which offers tips on meditation and even provide sleep remedies.

Unfortunately, Samsung only offers the LTE version with the stainless steel body, so choices are quite limited if you’re looking for the Galaxy Watch Active2 with cellular connectivity. While Samsung hasn’t commented on the pricing of the stainless steel versions, the standard aluminum models are priced $280 and $300 for the 40 and 44mm version respectively.

With the LTE variants expected to land on carrier shelves soon, we can soon expect to receive pricing details in the U.S. Pre orders for the smartwatch begin on September 6 while launch itself is scheduled for September 27. There’s a great incentive for pre-ordering customers with the inclusion of Samsung’s wireless charger portable battery for free with their order.
