Set up voicemail on Galaxy S25
Setting up voicemail on your Galaxy S25 ensures callers can leave messages when you are unavailable. The Phone app provides two ways to configure this: a quick dial method that works with any carrier, and Visual Voicemail for supported networks. Both take under two minutes to complete.
Set Up Voicemail by Dialing
The fastest way to activate voicemail uses your carrier’s standard setup line.
- Open the Phone app from your home screen.
- Tap the Keypad tab at the bottom.
- Press and hold the 1 key until the call connects.
- If this is your first time, follow the voice prompts to create a password (typically 4-7 digits).
- Record your greeting when prompted, then confirm to save.
Your voicemail is now active. Callers will hear your greeting after four to six rings.
Set Up Visual Voicemail
If your carrier supports Visual Voicemail, you get a text-like interface for managing messages.
- Open the Phone app.
- Select the Keypad tab, then tap the Visual Voicemail icon (usually in the top-right corner).
- Tap Continue on the welcome screen.
- If prompted, allow Visual Voicemail to access nearby devices by tapping Allow.
- Select Set up Visual Voicemail and follow the remaining prompts to create your password and greeting.
Once finished, new voicemails appear as playable messages in the Visual Voicemail tab.
Access Voicemail Settings Manually
You can also verify or change your voicemail number through settings.
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the three dots menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Voicemail to view or edit your voicemail number.
If Voicemail Setup Fails
- Ensure you have cellular service (not just Wi-Fi) before starting.
- Contact your carrier if holding “1” does not connect—some providers require a specific voicemail number programmed manually.
- If Visual Voicemail is missing, download your carrier’s dedicated app from the Play Store (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.).
- Forgot your password? Call your carrier or use their app to reset it.
FAQ
Will setting up voicemail delete my data?
No. Creating or changing voicemail settings does not affect photos, apps, or contacts.
Can I use Visual Voicemail without a data plan?
Visual Voicemail requires a data connection to download message transcripts. Basic voicemail (dialing method) works with voice service only.
How do I change my greeting later?
Dial voicemail by holding “1,” enter your password, then select the option to record a new greeting. For Visual Voicemail, open the app, tap the menu, and select Greetings.
