Set up eSIM on Galaxy S25
Setting up eSIM on a Galaxy S25 is quick once you have the right carrier details ready. This guide covers all common activation paths: QR code, automatic carrier download, and manual activation code entry.
Before you begin eSIM setup
- Make sure your carrier supports eSIM on Galaxy S25.
- Connect the phone to Wi-Fi (recommended during activation).
- Prepare one of these from your carrier: QR code, pre-assigned plan, or activation code.
- If your carrier asks for EID, find it in Settings > About phone > Status.
Open eSIM settings on Galaxy S25
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap SIM manager.
- Tap Add mobile plan.
Option 1: Set up eSIM by scanning a QR code (most common)
- In Add mobile plan, choose Add using QR code (wording can vary by carrier/region).
- Point camera at the carrier QR code.
- When plan details appear, tap Add or Confirm.
- Wait for download and activation to finish.
- If prompted, restart the phone.
Option 2: Set up eSIM with pre-assigned carrier plan
- Tap Add mobile plan.
- If your carrier supports auto-discovery, the plan appears automatically.
- Select the detected plan and continue activation.
- Finish on-screen prompts and wait for network registration.
Option 3: Set up eSIM using activation code
- Tap Add mobile plan.
- Select Add using activation code (or equivalent).
- Enter the code provided by your carrier exactly.
- Confirm and wait for provisioning to complete.
Set preferred SIM for calls, texts, and data
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
- Under preferred SIM settings, choose default line for calls.
- Choose default line for messages.
- Choose the line for mobile data (only one data SIM active at a time).
How to remove an eSIM later
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
- Select the eSIM plan you want to remove.
- Disable it first if needed, then tap Remove.
- Confirm removal.
Removing an eSIM from the phone does not always cancel your carrier plan. Contact carrier if you also want service cancellation.
If eSIM activation fails
- Check Wi-Fi and retry activation.
- Confirm QR code or activation code is still valid.
- Ensure device is carrier-unlocked if required.
- Update Galaxy S25 software, then try again.
- Call carrier support and provide EID for manual provisioning help.
Once activated, your Galaxy S25 should show signal bars for the eSIM line and appear as active in SIM manager.
