Set default apps on Galaxy S25
Setting default apps on Galaxy S25 only takes a minute once you know where Samsung keeps the controls in One UI 7.
Use this when you want links, calls, texts, or launcher actions to open in the app you prefer instead of Samsung’s default pick.
Set default apps on Galaxy S25
- Open Settings and tap Apps.
- Tap Choose default apps.
- Select the category you want to change, such as:
- Browser app
- Phone app
- SMS app
- Home app (launcher)
- Digital assistant app
- Caller ID and spam app
- Wallet app (if shown)
- Pick your preferred app from the list.
- Back out and test once (open a web link, place a call, or launch Home) to confirm the new default is active.
Control which app opens supported links
If links still open in the wrong app, adjust link-handling for that app directly:
- Go to Settings > Apps.
- Select the app you want to manage.
- Tap Set as default (or Open by default on some builds).
- Enable or disable Open supported links based on your preference.
Clear an app’s default behavior
Use this when an app keeps hijacking links or files:
- Open Settings > Apps.
- Tap the app you want to reset.
- Tap Set as default / Open by default.
- Tap Clear defaults (wording can vary by One UI version).
After clearing defaults, Galaxy S25 will ask which app to use the next time you open that action.
