Fix Galaxy S25 keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi
If your Galaxy S25 keeps dropping Wi-Fi, the problem is usually one of three things: unstable router handoff, aggressive Wi-Fi switching settings, or corrupted network data on the phone. Work through the fixes below in order, from quickest to deepest.
Method 1: Restart your phone and router
This clears temporary IP and DHCP conflicts that often cause random disconnects.
- Restart your Galaxy S25.
- Unplug your router and modem for 30 seconds, then power them back on.
- After internet is fully back, reconnect your phone and test for at least 5 minutes.
Method 2: Forget and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network
Rebuilding the saved network profile can fix bad authentication or stale security keys.
- Go to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
- Tap the gear icon next to your network, then tap Forget.
- Reconnect to the same network and enter the password again carefully.
Method 3: Disable Wi-Fi auto-switching features
On some networks, automatic switching can make the phone jump off Wi-Fi too quickly.
- Open Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
- Open Wi-Fi advanced/intelligent settings.
- Turn off options like Switch to mobile data or similar auto network switching features.
- Test again while staying in one location.
Method 4: Test 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz (or separate SSIDs)
5 GHz is faster but usually less stable over distance and through walls.
- If your router combines bands, create separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz names temporarily.
- Connect the Galaxy S25 to 2.4 GHz and check stability.
- If disconnects stop, keep 2.4 GHz for range-heavy areas or optimize your 5 GHz channel placement.
Method 5: Update phone software and router firmware
Wi-Fi stability fixes are often delivered through firmware updates.
- On phone: Settings > Software update > Download and install.
- On router: install the latest firmware from your router admin page or app.
- Restart both devices after updates.
Method 6: Reset network settings
Use this if the issue continues across multiple networks.
- Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings.
- Confirm reset.
- Reconnect to Wi-Fi and test again.
Method 7: Check for app conflict in Safe Mode
If Wi-Fi is stable in Safe Mode, a third-party app is likely interfering.
- Press and hold the power button menu.
- Touch and hold Power off, then tap Safe mode.
- Test Wi-Fi for several minutes.
- If stable, uninstall recently added network, VPN, or battery-optimizer apps.
When to contact Samsung or your ISP
- Disconnects happen on every Wi-Fi network even after network reset.
- Only your home network has issues while mobile hotspot works fine (likely router/ISP side).
- The phone shows weak Wi-Fi signal at close range compared with other devices.
