Fix Galaxy S25 Mobile Hotspot not working

If your Galaxy S25 hotspot turns on but other devices can’t get internet (or the hotspot switch won’t stay enabled), this is usually a carrier-setting, APN, or network stack issue. Work through the fixes below in order.

Method 1: Confirm your carrier allows hotspot on your line

  • Open a website directly on your Galaxy S25 using mobile data (turn Wi-Fi off first).
  • Contact your carrier app/support and confirm hotspot/tethering is enabled on your current plan.
  • If you recently switched SIM/eSIM or changed plans, ask the carrier to reprovision tethering.

Why this matters: hotspot can fail even when normal mobile data works if tethering entitlement is missing.

Method 2: Recreate the hotspot with compatible settings

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot.
  2. Turn hotspot off, then back on.
  3. Open Configure and set a new SSID/password.
  4. Set band to 2.4 GHz for testing (best compatibility).
  5. Disable hidden network if enabled, then reconnect your laptop/tablet.

Method 3: Check APN values (critical after major updates)

Some users report hotspot breaks after updates when APN type values are altered. Check your active APN:

  1. Open Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  2. Tap the active APN and review APN type.
  3. If your carrier requires it, include dun in APN type (example: default, supl, mms, dun).
  4. Save APN, reboot phone, and test hotspot again.

Note: APN fields vary by carrier; only use values approved by your carrier.

Method 4: Disable conflict settings and retry

  • Turn off VPN temporarily.
  • Turn off Data Saver and Power Saving mode.
  • Toggle Airplane mode on for 10 seconds, then off.
  • Restart both your Galaxy S25 and the client device.

Method 5: Reset network settings

  1. Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset network settings.
  2. Confirm reset.
  3. Reconnect cellular data, reconfigure hotspot, and test again.

This clears saved Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile network configs that often block tethering.

Method 6: Update software and test in Safe mode

  1. Install latest update via Settings > Software update.
  2. Boot into Safe mode and test hotspot briefly.
  3. If hotspot works in Safe mode, remove recently installed network/security apps.

When to escalate

If hotspot still fails after all steps, ask your carrier to check tethering provisioning and APN policy for your line/SIM, then book Samsung service diagnostics for possible modem firmware issues.
