Phones that cannot completely boot up may have issues with their firmware. At least, that’s the most logical thing to assume considering the fact that the boot sequence is done by the operating system. But then again, there are other possibilities of a more serious hardware problems. In other words, we won’t know for sure why the phone can’t completely boot up. That’s the same thing we have to assume if the phone is stuck in a boot loop wherein the device can power up its hardware, show the logo but fails to reach the home screen as it turns off by itself and powers back on. The cycle will continue until the battery runs out.
In this post, I will share with you the procedure we’ve been doing to fix this problem but it effectivity depends on how the problem started. This isn’t the first time we encountered this problem so we already know a thing or two that could help bring your phone back to its original state. How to fix Galaxy S8 stuck in infinite boot loop
As always, boot loops are a result of one or some issues with the firmware. There are even times when the firmware is the problem. But let’s go straight to fixing this problem and this is what you need to do:
The Solution
Boot your phone up in recovery mode and wipe the cache partition. That is if the problem started without apparent reason or after a firmware update…
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition.”
- Press the Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
If this doesn’t work, then you should reset your phone. However, you may lose all files and data stored in your phone’s internal storage, but at this point in time, it’s necessary to reset your device.
This is how you reset your S8 that got stuck in boot loop…
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
The reset is your last resort so if it fails, you must bring the phone to the service center so that a technician can fix it for you. The reset is the best shot you have to fix this problem but if it fails, there’s nothing much you can do.
