  • Understand what Black Screen of Death really is and learn how to fix it on your own

The Black Screen of Death (BSoD) is often characterized by a blank and unresponsive screen, at least, these are the immediate results and often the symptoms reported by users. What they often fail to mention are the behaviors of the phone before it turned off on its own and won’t turn back on. Events leading to the problem are very important clues to determine what the problem is all about. But the thing is it’s not the first time we encountered this problem so we already know a solution or two that could address this issue. Of course, for users who have encountered this for the first time, panic is often the immediate reaction. But I’m telling you, this problem is pretty easy to fix.

The black screen of death is oftentimes a system crash unless the device actually suffered from physical and / or liquid damage. At least, that’s the first assumption we have to make especially if the device turned off on its own without apparent reason or cause. To address this problem, follow these steps…

Force reboot phone to fix black screen of death

Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power key together for 10 seconds or more to restart your phone. It would be like a normal reboot procedure but the phone’s memory is actually refreshed as the phone simulates battery disconnect procedure. So, just like removing the battery, electricity stored in capacitors will be drained and this, of course, refreshes your phone’s memory. During the boot process, only the core services and apps will be loaded and this could be the only thing you need to do to fix this problem.

However, if the phone is still not responding after this procedure, then try to follow these steps as the combination might not have been performed correctly…

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t go of it.
  2. Press and hold the Power key while holding down the Volume Down button.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or until the screen turns on.

This basically has the same effect as the first procedure but we’re making sure you’re not triggering the phone to turn on prematurely. Pressing the Power key first will trigger the phone immediately so you have to press and hold the Volume Down button before pressing the power key. If this doesn’t work either, then try these steps…

  1. Plug the charger to a working AC or wall outlet.
  2. Using the original cable, connect your phone to its charger.
  3. Regardless whether your Galaxy A8+ 2018 shows the charging symbol or not, allow the phone to charge for at least ten minutes.
  4. After which, do the Forced reboot procedure once again but this time while the device is connected to its charger.

Apparently, what we’re trying to do here is the Forced Restart but in the last procedure, we are making sure the phone has a stable power source because it’s possible the battery got drained completely but before that happened, the system may have crashed.

If the phone is still not responding after this or if it still has the black screen of death, then the problem is more than just a system crash. There’s only so much you can about a phone that won’t turn on nor respond so it’s time to get a technician to check the device for you. It’s possible the problem is with the hardware and the phone may need to be opened.

I hope this helps. If you have other things you want to share about your Galaxy A8 Plus 2018, then leave a comment below.
