Under normal circumstances, you’ll only need to tap on a notification for app and software updates to keep your Samsung Galaxy software environment up-to-date.
However, there may be times that you may miss some update notifications so may have to manually update your apps at a later date. If you don’t know how to do that, this tutorial should walk you through it.
We’ve updated this post to reflect the latest steps that you need to follow if your Samsung device is running the latest Android 10 software.

Keeping your apps up to date is easy. All you have to do is to open the Play Store app and update them from there. Some default apps from Samsung can only be updated via Samsung Galaxy Store or by going under the app’s Settings menu.<br><br>For example, the default Samsung Camera app can’t receive an update via the Play Store so if you’re having an issue with that app, you may want to check if there’s a pending update for it under its settings. <br><br>All apps you downloaded via Google Play Store can receive updates via Play Store as well. Learn what you must do to update them below.
<strong>Open Play Store app.</strong>
This is a default Google app. Find the Play Store app in your Home screen or Apps Tray.
<strong>Tap More settings.</strong>
This is an icon at the upper left (three-horizontal lines). Tap it.
<strong>Tap My apps & games.</strong>
Select My apps & games.
<strong>Select the Updates tab.</strong>
It’s one of the tabs under My apps & games section. There should be 4 tabs: Updates, Installed, Library, and Beta. Tap Updates.
<strong>Tap Update or Update All.</strong>
If you only have one available app update, you can tap on the Update button. If there are more than one available apps to be updated, tap on Update all button.

NOTE: If you have many apps to update, be mindful of using wifi instead of mobile data. Updating many apps at once may consume significant GB off your mobile data subscription. To ensure that you only update apps when on wifi network, follow the steps below:
- Open Play Store app.
- Tap More settings icon at the upper left (three-horizontal lines).
- Tap Settings.
- Tap App download preference.
- Select Over wifi only (select Over any network if you don’t have wifi).
- Tap Done.
