Creating backups is one of the important routines when it comes to data management in mobile devices. You can back up your phone data through cloud (online) or to a computer. How to troubleshoot your Galaxy A6 2018 that’s not recognized by PC
Considering that everything is good with the physical connection and yet your Galaxy A6 2018 smartphone is still not recognized by your computer, it’s probably a software issue or glitch transpiring on your device. To rule this out, try these subsequent procedures whenever you’re all set.
First solution: Restart your Galaxy A6 2018 (soft reset).
A soft reset or device restart is the simplest most effective solution to minor software issues and app glitches causing various problems in mobile devices including syncing errors. If you haven’t restarted your phone yet, then do so with these steps:
- To soft reset or restart your Galaxy A6 2018, press the Power button until the menu appears and then tap the option to Power Off. After 30 seconds, you can press the Power button again until the device restarts.
- Alternatively, you can just press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button on the side until the phone restarts.
This process does not affect any data or personal information you stored on the internal memory of your phone, therefore creating backups won’t be necessary.
Second solution: Update software to the latest version.
Software update not only offers new features and enhanced functions but also integrates security patches to get rid of any bugs that caused various issues on certain devices. This is the reason why keeping your device software up-to-date is recommended.
To check for software (Android) update available for your device, head over to Settings-> About device -> Software update -> Update now or Settings -> Software update -> Download updates manually.
Don’t forget to reboot your phone after installing new software update to ensure that the update is properly implemented.
Third solution: Wipe cache partition on your Galaxy A6 2018.
Temporary data stored as cache in the phone system can also be the main culprit especially when they get corrupted. To make sure this isn’t the underlying cause, try wiping cache partition on your phone. Doing so will clear all cache files or temporary data from the system cache partition including errant files. Here’s how it’s done:
- With your device powered off, press and hold the Power, Home and Volume Up buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
- Release the buttons when the Android screen appears and the phone loads in Recovery mode.
- Press the Volume Down button several times to scroll to and highlight Wipe Cache Partition from the given options then press the Power button to confirm selection.
- Wait until the phone has finished wiping cache from the system partition. You will then see the Reboot system now option highlighted.
- To restart your device, press the Power button.
Wait until your phone has rebooted successfully and then reconnect to your computer.
Fourth solution: Enable USB debugging on your Galaxy A6 2018.
Android devices including Samsung’s Galaxy series embed some hidden options by default and one of these is the Developer options menu. This menu has a number of options that can be used for advanced purposes. Among these options is the USB debugging mode, which has been found useful when dealing with physical connectivity issues between the mobile device and a computer during file transfer or data syncing procedures. Many people who have encountered problems when attempting to connect their Android device to a computer, like when the computer cannot detect the mobile device were able to find solution by enabling the USB debugging mode. If you wish to give it a try, then here’s how to access and enable this mode on your Samsung Galaxy A6 2018:
- Tap Apps.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap About device.
- Scroll down to Build number option. If you don’t see Build number, tap Software info, then Build number.
- Touch on Build number seven times.
- Go back to Settings and you should now see the Developer options menu under Settings-> General-> Developer options.
At this point, connect your phone to your computer again using the original USB cable or compatible data cable and see if it’s already detected.
How to troubleshoot your computer that can’t recognize your phone
Remove any other external devices attached to your computer via USB including memory cards. Doing so will ensure that none of these external devices can cause conflict. After doing so, proceed with these workarounds.
First workaround: Reboot your computer.
Should this be among other random errors occurring on your computer’s operating system or certain programs, a reboot will likely be able to fix it.
- To do so, just follow the standard restart procedure via Start-> Restart menu. After 30 seconds or 1 minute, turn your computer on again.
- After the computer has successfully booted up, connect your Galaxy A6 2018 smartphone via USB cable.
If this failed to fix the issue and your Galaxy device is still not detected by your PC, then try the next workaround.
Second workaround: Update, Uninstall, Reinstall Drivers.
To rule driver issue out from the possible culprit, try to update drivers on your computer manually. While driver updates for Windows 10 are automatically installed through Windows update, updating or reinstalling the driver might be needed to fix relevant trouble with a device. Here’s what you should do then:
- Click the Start button
- Type Device Manager in the search box, and select it from the search results.
- Click to expand categories to find the name of your device (Samsung Galaxy A6), then right-click or tap and hold it.
- Select the option to Update Driver.
- Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
After updating drivers, reboot your computer then reattempt to connect your Samsung Galaxy A6 2018 via USB.
If your computer doesn’t find a new driver, you may attempt to look for one on the device manufacturer’s website and follow the onscreen instructions to download and install new driver.
