S9 Wi-Fi Switch Is Greyed Out After Software Update
Problem: Awhile ago there was an update…lost network connectivity, both wifi and bluetooth. DiD factory reset, still unable to turn on (switch stays grey) “attempting to turn on” appears on screen. Then goes back to off position. I tossed it in a drawer then thought I’d tackle it one more time…. Any ideas? Thinking to reload update, but cannot connect to outside world. Many thanks for reading this Cheers! Walt
Solution: If a factory reset fails to fix the problem then it’s very likely that this is already caused by a faulty Wi-Fi chip. You can however try to flash the phone with an older firmware file to check if the problem is caused by the new software update. You can get the firmware file as well as the instructions on how to flash your phone from the Sammobile website.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should just bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this issue is most likely covered by its warranty.
S9 Unauthorized Reset Error
Problem: I factory reset my samsung S9. When starting up I get a message stating “an unauthorised attempt has been made to reset etc. connect to internet to verify your identity”. So I connect to the internet, for a second I appeared to be connected but then another message appears “Unable to connect to the Internet”. As soons as, I click OK, it disconnects and I’m back to the connect to Wi-Fi page. ps: I’m currently on holiday in Italy, is it because I’m trying to connect to a non-UK network. My phone was working ok before the factory reset.
Solution: For this particular issue you should try connecting the phone to a different Wi-Fi network as the problem could be caused by an issue with the network your phone is connecting to. Once the phone has connected to a Wi-Fi connection you will then need to login to the phone using the Google account connected to it.
S9 Wi-Fi Disconnects Randomly
Problem: I’m using @eduroam provided by my school and am staying on campus. The wifi disconnects randomly and for the past few days I can’t even connect to it. At some days it’s a charm. My phone/pc can consistently connect to my mobile hotspot (yes , my other devices also do not work sometimes with eduroam) my friends are also suffering from it and I would want to know why is that. Usually after it disconnects, 1 or 2 hours later I can reconnect to it again and in some occasions I can connect to it but my friends can’t. Seems weird.
Solution: If other devices are also having the same issue connecting to the Wi-Fi network provided by your school then the problem could be caused by an issue with the router. This has to be checked by the school IT administrator. You can however troubleshoot your phone to check if the problem is caused by an issue with your device by following the steps listed below.
- Forget the Wi-Fi network from your phone. Restart your phone then connect to the Wi-Fi network again.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S9 Cannot Control Sound Mixer Using Wi-Fi
Problem: Hello. I am a sound engineer, using mostly digital mixing consoles, able to be controlled via WiFi through a router. Usually i do this with my Asus tablet, and it works fine. But when using the Galaxy S9 , it doesn’t. I can connect to the Mixer’s WiFi network, but that’s it. Further communication is not possible. I get a notification “connected, no internet”. Can i do something to remediate this problem? Thanks
Solution: If you have already made sure that the Wi-Fi network does not have a problem ( other devices that connect to the network can go online) then the problem could be caused by the app you are using to control the mixer. Try uninstalling this app and install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.
