S9 Randomly Plays Music

Problem: Hi. Recently my Samsung Music has randomly started playing my music on it’s own. It also plays with the volume, and either blasts music or softly plays it, but no matter what its completely random. I forced stopped the app once and the problem stopped until I restarted my phone, two days later. I now know that force stopping the app is only a temporary solution, and I am now looking for a more permanent one. I have no games on my phone but plenty of different messaging services. Please help.

Solution: Your phone should not play music on its own unless you use the music player app. To troubleshoot this problem the first thing you need to do is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. Start the phone in Safe Mode. It’s easy to check if a downloaded app is causing the problem when you start the phone in this mode since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the problem does not occur in this mode then you need to find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the problem still occurs in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do the steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Perform a factory reset.

S9 Randomly Stops Playing Sound

Problem: Hi, just started today. I thought was just video’s but tried songs so it quits there too. Power saving mode is not enabled. I never changed performance mode settings in long time until this happened but changed back. I tried restarting phone and didn’t help. I never got phone wet or dropped it. Don’t know what it could be. I tried all the usual stuff would first try like sound settings. Oh, I have a degree in computers so that’s why I know the first things to check. I seen online some other people posted about same issue and they never got their fix and their post was years ago. Was some other site. Thanks for any help.

Solution: The first thing that you should do right now is to check if the problem occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t happen when the phone is running in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S9 No Sound Notifications

Problem: My text message notification isn’t working. It worked all morning, and then this afternoon I was holding my phone and my fingers were on the screen. I got a text and the screen lit up, and since my fingers were on the screen it opened the message, and I didn’t know till I looked down and I was in some weird menu. I backed out, and now it won’t chime when I get a message. I have checked all volume levels, all notification settings, I’ve gone to every menu I can find, everything is as it should be. I restarted, didn’t fix it, removed the battery for several minutes, didn’t fix it. That brought me to you! I googled the issue and haven’t found anything quite like mine. My phone does chime when I get an email or call, it’s only text messages. I would love to not have to do a factory reset

Related Problem: Set my ringtone and after a couple of incoming call. It goes to silent, I am missing many calls this is a 6 month old note 8, I have been to Verizon twice called Verizon once and to best buy and talk to Samsung rep, all thought they had it fixed. After a couple of hours my phone is back to silent, and I have not touch it!!

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the volume setting of the phone is set to its maximum level.

  • Make sure that the phone is running in Standard Mode.
  • Go to the Apps screen
  • Tap on Settings then on Sound and vibration
  • Tap Volume
  • Drag the slider to its maximum level for Ringtone, Media, Notifications, and System.

In case the issue persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S9 Sound is Out Of Tune

Problem: Hi, I have just started noticing my phone playing ringtones out of tune. I have never heard of this before it almost makes me feel crazy but I have an ear for music and it drives me nuts. It sounds like my grandma’s grand piano that hasn’t been tuned in 50 years! This is my cell phone it’s not supposed to play ringtones off key but it makes me cringe every time a text or call comes in which led me to look for answers online but it looks like nobody else has ever had this problem. The only thing I can think of is dropping it in water almost 2 months ago but other than initially not charging till it was dried out it has been perfectly fine I know they say it takes two weeks for it to show any signs of damage but I would have thought I would have seen Problems by now if there were going to be any but maybe not. So….any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

Solution: The fastest way to fix the problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the phone speaker might not be properly working. You will need to have this checked at a service center if this is the case.
