S9 Charging Connects Then Disconnects

Problem: after plugging the phone in, using original adapter and usb cable, the phone begins to charge in fast mode, then after about 3 seconds, makes a tone as if the cable was unplugged, then plugged back in, and the charge goes from fast to regular.    Fast charging issue, i’ve tried multiple outlets, and my brother’s adapter and cable (same phone as me) same result. everything was working fine until the last update to the phone.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris as the presence of any foreign matter will cause charging problems. Clean the charging port using a can of compressed air. Once the port is clean try using a different charging cord and adaptive fast charging wall charger to charge the phone. Make sure that the fast charging setting of the phone is active.

  • From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.
  • Touch Settings.
  • Touch Device maintenance.
  • Touch Battery.
  • Touch the More options icon.
  • Touch Advanced settings.
  • To turn on Fast cable charging, touch the slider.

If the issue still persists and since you mentioned that this occurred right after a software update then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This allows you to check if the problem is caused by some old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 Not Turning On After Software Update

Problem: So the initial issue started after I got the notification that I had an update available. After the long 2 hour update which was just a security patch. I started getting these lines on my screen and then all of the sudden the phone shuts off and doesn’t power back on even to show that its charging. A week goes by and it is completely dead so I charge and all of the sudden it the screen comes back on but its stuck in a boot loop. I factory reset it, and cleared the cache partition and now it will not boot to recovery. I tried all the basic troubleshooting steps. IE safe mode, hard restarting it, even tried using odin but nothing will pass except the modem file. I don’t know if its because debugging isn’t enabled… I can’t find any article or forum related to this problem so any help would be much appreciated… thanks!

Solution: It looks like the update might have corrupted the phone software or a previously existing hardware problem is causing the issue. Since you have already performed most of the troubleshooting steps recommended for this issue which doesn’t’ fix the problem the best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 Is Unresponsive

Problem: Hello. I have an S9 . I just bought it from ebay,  At first was ok. Then, like 3 weeks later the phone does not respond sometimes. I know the phone is working because the led is titling. But the phone not response. I have to take do a soft reset to turn on the phone. Then, the phone respond. But then again go black and unresponding. And I can’t make the three keys system work for rebooting it o eraser the cache portion. I don’t know if I made myself clear. But thats whats is happening to me and I’m like crazy for this right now.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to make sure that the phone battery has sufficient charge then start the phone in recovery mode.

  • Press and hold the power button to turn off your phone
  • Press and hold Bixby button (right below the volume keys), Volume Up, and Power button at the same time.
  • You will see a blue screen  which will say “installing system update” followed by “No command.”
  • After about 20 to 30 seconds, your phone will show you the Recovery menu.

With the phone in recovery mode you will need to wipe the cache partition of the phone followed by a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. You will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
