In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 keeps on getting pop-up ads issue and other related problems.

S8 Keeps On Getting Pop-Up Ads

Problem: I have the stupid ads issue that started recently out of the blue along with the look of the start up being completely different. The result is every time I touch or move my phone, it sends a message signal to me I have a message, but of course I don’t, there’s just a whole lot of pop up ads which quickly drain my new battery to near empty by mid afternoon that used to easily last all day. I’ve had the phone from new for around four years and it’s been just fine all this time, it’s only been the last month this annoying thing has happened.

Related Problem: Recently started getting popup ads on the home screen of my Samsung Galaxy S8.  Followed on line instructions on various sites without success. Can you help.

Solution: The most common reason why your phone is getting pop-up ads is because an app you downloaded is pushing apps to your phone. It could also be because you have visited certain websites and clicked on some of the links which route ads to your phone.

The best way to fix this problem is to first start the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then the most effective way to fix this issue is to do a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S8 Stuck In Optimizing Apps Screen After Software Update

Problem: Hi. So I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 and its not even a year old yet and it said I had a new software update last night at 6pm so I let it update. around 6:30pm it said it was optimizing apps 0 of 99 so I thought it was almost done. so I sat it on the counter and left it alone around 7pm it said 99 of 99 so I put it on the charger and I got ready for bed. when I woke up it still says the same thing and it wont get off the screen. I can’t take the battery out because it wont give me the option to anyways. so I don’t know what to do all I know is I need my phone back. I don’t know what the new update is called but it just popped up asking for it last night June 22.

Solution: This is most likely caused by a software glitch which can easily be fixed by wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. In case the issue still persists then you should consider doing a factory reset in recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

S8 Runs Slow

Problem: Phone is slow. I have already cleared cache, stopped apps, then did phone reset, then factory hard reset. Phone is still slow and this started after I updated some apps. I have Norton antivirus on my phone that says no malware . When I use the device maintenance app to scan the phone it freezes for about a minute on “com.android.captivepotalloggin ” then completes the scan and says phone is 100. Can you please help me.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing this as this might be caused by a faulty card. You should also try doing a factory reset in recovery mode.Make sure to backup your phone data before oding the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to have this checked at a service center as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

S8 Screen Is Black

Problem: I was using my phone yesterday just fine. I’m not sure what it is called, but when I look at my phone, it has the time and date on it no matter what. That screen is no longer there. I clicked the off button to put it to sleep. Later that day, I click the off button so I could swipe to use it, but the screen was black. The light at the top is blinking green, but I can’t do anything. I googled what to do and found your page. I tried all the tips you gave, but still my phone is black. I can’t turn it off or on. I have tried charging it and using your tips as well. I can’t do anything other then use it for a paper weight right now and I’m stressed out over it. I’m not the type of person who has to have their phone 247, but I am waiting on a phone call from a possible new employer to see if I got the job I interviewed for so yeah, I’m stressed. Please help me!

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then the problem could be caused by a software glitch. To fix this you will need to do a factory reset in this mode. Take note the reset will erase your phone data.

If the problem persists then the display assembly of the phone could be faulty. You should then have this checked at a service center.
