Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Failed to Send Text Message

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is the first flagship phone of the South Korean company that ditches the physical home button. With the absence of this button the phone can accommodate a much larger 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display on a body that is similar in size to that of the S7. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 failed to send text message issue and other related problems.

S8 Failed to Send Text Message

Problem: Hi! I have a Samsung S8… A couple of times a week I notice a “failed to send” text message, essentially “from” me as if I attempted to send it. They always say the same thing, something about Google trying to verify something that can’t be verified because said text failed to send! But I’m not the one actually sending it! When I click on the 3 dots above right (the wee drop down option menu), it says “remove number from spam” implying that I’ve already ADDED it to spam! So confused. Have no idea if there’s an app that my 9 y/o daughter installed that needs verification, but neither she nor I are having any trouble with anything we use app-wise. And the fact that they aren’t coming FROM someone/thing but “from me” is concerning. Oh! And they’re never actual phone #s. They’re usually 6-8 digits (most recent was 24444-4 or something). Help!! Thank you so much for your time

Solution: It looks like you might have installed an app that is causing this problem. To check if this is the case try starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. In case the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then the best thing you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Can’t Send Text Message To More Than One Contact

Problem: I cannot send text messages to more than one person? I receive them and can reply to all the group, but I can not initiate the multi group? I type in one contact and can’t add another? What is going on?

Solution: To send a group text message using your phone follow the steps listed below.

  • From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  • Tap Messages.
  • Tap the Compose icon.
  • Tap the Groups tab.
  • Tap the group you want to send the message to.
  • Tap All or manually select recipients.
  • Tap COMPOSE.
  • Enter message text in the Group conversation box.
  • Tap the Send icon.

In case the issue persists then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager.
  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then this could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 MMS Video Length Is Only One Minute

Problem: My phone is limiting my video length to one minute that I’m trying to send by MMS it started doing this after the most recent upgrade I contacted Verizon and they were not able to resolve the issue I am using message plus messaging service on my Galaxy S8 it’s cutting off any video over 1 minute in length.. I am not sure what my Android version is or where to find that

Solution: If you are on the Verizon network then you should make sure that the video file size that you are sending does not exceed 1,200 KB if you are using the stock messaging app on an LTE connection. If you are using the Messages+ app then the file size limit is 100 MB.

In case the video you are sending does not exceed the specified size limit and it is being cut to a minute in length then this might be caused by a software glitch. The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 New Text Messages Missing From Messaging App

Problem: Since the update – texts come thru — I can see them as they pop up for preview.  However, I can’t retrieve them from the text app. It’s as if they don’t exist. It seems to be stuck at the point of the update last night.  Also, I woke up the time being incorrect (hour and minute) on my phone.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do today is to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. In case the issue still occurs after this then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
