S7 Battery Drains When It Is Off

Problem: MY Galaxy S7 drains faster when it is off. Like 100% when turn it off and will be 64% by the morning. However, if I turn it on when fully charged, it lasts all day and by the evening I have say 85%. How I cope? Keeping it on charge when home. I have a feeling that it is not a battery issue, is it possible that something is not turned on/short circuited in the background and keeps draining the battery?

Solution: If your phone is off then it should not be using any battery life at all. What you will want to do in this case is to confirm that the phone is really off by performing the steps listed below.

  • Make sure that the phone is on.
  • Press and hold the power button.
  • A menu will appear on the screen. Tap on the power off button.
  • Tap on the power off button again.

Once the phone is off check if the battery still gets drained.

In case the issue still persists then you will want to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. To do this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the problem still occurs after the reset then this might already be caused by a hardware issue most likely a faulty battery. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Always Shows 80% Charge

Problem: Thank for this blog. I don’t speak english very well, but i’ll try to explain. I have my phone Galaxy S7 just for about 2 years and now it has a problem in charging. It began 5 days after i arrive in other country Brazil in which current is 110V (in my country  is 220V), The problem is: it shows only and always 80% of charge, since when i plug it and after hours of charging. Even when it 0% it shows 80%. After hours charging it remain in 80% and i can use for some hours (less than before). So i think that that charge exhibited is false. I just want to remove the battery as you suggested, but the S7 battery can not be removed. Please help me

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone. Try checking if the battery level still gets stuck at 80%. You should also try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone then check if the battery level changes.

In case the issue still persists then I suggest that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Is Not Charging

Problem: Hi, after my battery drained, i tried charging but the download Icon came up. I did a hard reset and it stopped and i was able to charge. However, i noticed it took much longer to charge. After the current charge drained out, i tried charging again but nothing came up, no icons or lights. so i did a soft reset and it came on but because the battery was drained it went off again. i then tried to charge but it didnt charge again. i again tried the soft reset (volume down key and power key), this time the charging icon came up but went back off and nothing since then. Please help.

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of the phone first using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port as this can interfere with the charging process.

Once the port is clean try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone charges from a computer USB port.

In case the issue persists then this is most likely a hardware problem already possibly caused by a faulty charging port, battery, or power IC. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Screen Is Black After Drop

Problem: My S7 dropped yesterday and the screen went blank. Except for a portion on the left side that flickered but did not show actual display. When I picked the phone up the call I was in was still connected. After I completed the call I was trying to turn it off. It then started  boot cycling, I could hear the T-mobile jingle keep happening. I sometimes can power it off and plug it in and I see the red light come on indicating charging. But when I try to power it back on the screen stays black and blue light stays on. Sometimes it boot cycles sometimes it doesn’t. Any help would be appreciated. I do not know the version of Android that it is running

Solution: It’s very likely that the drop has damaged the display assembly. Try starting the phone in recovery mode. If the display work in this mode then the problem might just be caused by a software glitch. If this is the case then you will need to do a factory reset in this mode. In case the screen remains black in recovery mode then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
