Note 8 Screen Is Flickering After Drop

Problem: Hello! I am pleasantly surprised that I found this website. I have a Note 8 and a few weeks ago I got mugged and beaten up; I was thrown to the ground multiple times with my phone in my hand so the screen has many cracks on it. Thankfully they weren’t able to steal it, but an hour ago my phone was dropped on the floor next to a pool so water got on the screen (Shattered screen so I got worried about water getting in through the cracks). I don’t know if the fall did the damage because the screen was already cracked but since I was worried about water damage I turned off the phone and left it in the sun for about 20 minutes so that any water would evaporate. I turned it on after it cooled down and now the screen is flickering, it sometimes gets a green hue or a pink one, and sometimes it turns off completely, also it gets delays sometimes. The display is perfectly fine, it shows a complete image with no dark spots. It’s just the occasional flickering that concerns me, the phone is still usable; in fact, I’m writing this on my phone. But I want to fix this issue, I think it may have to do with the overheating after the exposure to the sun (I know it’s pretty stupid), or the fall (Since it already had damage after the beating). I hope that I can find out what is causing the problem so that I won’t get charged for a display replacement.

Solution: Since your phone has a cracked display and it also came into contact with water then it’s very likely  that the flickering problem is already caused by a faulty hardware component. You can however check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the screen still freezes. If it does then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 8 Fingerprint Scanner Not Working After Screen Replacement

Problem: Hi! Fairly recently, I dropped my phone. Although the screen was cracked, the phone didn’t appear to suffer any further damage. I took the phone into a repair shop, where the guy replaced the screen. We checked it, and the fingerprint scanner didn’t seem to be responding. I had the fingerprint scanner replaced, and once this was installed, I tried the fingerprint scanner. Nada. I’ve removed any previous fingerprints, cleared the cache and data from the fingerprints app, forced it to stop, closed my background apps, uninstalled other apps, logged into and restarted Samsung Pass, installed the latest update and removed the theme I had at the time. The guy in the phone shop rang a number which took him to a series of tests – RGB, audio, and other such tests, one being a fingerprint scanner test – this tested fine. When I go to add a new fingerprint, I’m told to hold my finger on the button – when I do this, the page stays on “please place your finger over the scanner” for a little while, and then an error message pops up: “an error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor. Please restart your device if the issue persists” (I’ve restarted the device, by the way, multiple times). Any ideas? Thanks!

Solution: The best thing you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if the issue still occurs. In case it does then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. I suggest that you have the phone checked at an authorized Samsung service center.

Note 8 Screen Is Black After Using Camera Underwater

Problem: Tried to capture a video clip while i was swimming using my note 8 samsung smart phone.. but unfortunately after 10 to 15 minutes, my phone started to experience various issues. at first, it was the sensors i.e touch, fingerprint and iris scanner, they stopped working, but after sometime they came back after keeping it off for 2 hrs approximately, then mouth piece stopped working till now, after that, it refused to charge then switched it off  but after awhile it charged again, so i tried to switch it on. when it was fully charged it went on but unfortunately the screen was black. I could feel it was on but stuck at that point where i have to insert a pin number to unlock it. can’t do anything with a black screen.. so i need your help guys…. what should i do

Solution: It looks like the problem is caused by water that might have entered the phone. The best thing to do right now is to turn off the device then place it in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
