Note 8 Cannot Read Micro SD Card After Software Update
Problem: my samsung galaxy note 8 will no longer show my sd card contents any of my pic files or music on my phone even though I’ve done a text on my computer and its fine it shows all the files but just not on my phone and I’ve tried all possible things that could have be done. can u plz help me in figuring out why i m having this problem . this happened after my phone downloaded the mandatory software update on my phone a day ago. Thank you
Solution: Try removing the micro SD card from your phone then do a soft reset. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Once the phone restarts insert the micro SD card back to the phone then check if the card can now be read. If the phone still can’t read the contents of the micro SD card then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the phone can read the contents of the card in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- To check if the problem is caused old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process then you will have to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider getting a new micro SD card as the one you have right now might have an issue.
Note 8 Transfer Phone Data to Micro SD Card
Problem: Hi! I have a Note 8 and because my storage was full, I purchased a Samsung SD card. I don’t know how to transfer some apps or pictures to the SD cards. I still get the notification that my storage is full and I’m at a loss . All the things I find online do not apply to my phone. Do you know what I should do?
Solution: To transfer your phone data to the micro SD card you should follow the steps listed below.
- Make sure that the micro SD card is inserted to the phone.
- Go to Apps then Samsung folder then My Files.
- Navigate to the file you want to move.
- Touch and hold the file you want to move.
- Touch Move.
- Touch SD card.
- Navigate to the location you want to save your files.
- Touch DONE.
Note 8 Unsupported SD Card Error
Problem: My Note 8 says unsupported SD card please format, but when I try I get an error message. It did the same thing towards the end on my old note 4 too. Also I ran over my phone and the screen won’t come on, but the phone would still ring and make all the usual sounds. The home keys let up though. I hooked my phone up to my laptop to try and recover some of my files, but nothing shows up. There was nothing to “explore.” Can I take it to a tech person and recover my files?
Solution: It appears that the unsupported files error that you are getting is because the display of the phone is not working properly. I suggest that you have the display of the phone fixed first at a service center before considering the micro SD card issue or the issue of the phone not being detected by your laptop.
You can however check if the micro SD card of the phone is indeed working by letting your computer read the card. If it can’t be read then you can try to format this card using the computer then let your phone read the card. You should also consider getting a new card to check if the problem is caused by the current card you are using.
Note 8 Not Recognizing 128GB Micro SD Card
Problem: Good morning, I bought a 128 GB Toshiba Exceria M302 Micro SD to use it in my new phone ) but the phone doesn’t recognize it after the format. The phone recognizes my older 32 GB micro SD card so the phone is fine. In the specs of the phone it says it supports up to 512 GB micro card. Can you please help me with this? Is there anything I can do to make it work? Is the card wrong? Is the card not compatible with this phone? Thank you
Solution: Try having your computer read the micro SD card. If it can’t be read then you will most likely need to have this replaced. If the card can be read by your computer then you should format this card using the FAT 32 partition then check if the card can now be detected by your phone. If the issue still persists then I suggest that you try to get another 128 GB micro SD card.
