J7 Will Not Install Software Update

Problem: Hi there ! I’ve been trying to install the latest update for months but there is always an Error (no code) and will not install the update. Even though I have successfully downloaded the update. I’ve tried a factory reset ,soft boot, killing all running apps and ensuring I have enough memory (2 gb) available I think I’ve tried almost everything I have read about this issue and hoping you can help! Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise

Solution: In order for your phone to get the official software updates it must not be rooted or running on a custom software. It should also be running on its original network ( this will apply if you had your phone unlocked). In case your phone meets these conditions and it still can’t get the update then the best thing to do right now is to use Smart Switch. Make sure to use a Samsung USB cable and backup your phone data before proceeding.

  • Download and install Samsung Smart Switch that is compatible with your computer from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/smart-switch-support/#!/
  • Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
  • Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
  • Allow your computer to install any required drivers for your device. This process may take a few minutes.
  • Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
  • If a software update is available for your device, Smart Switch will automatically prompt you to update. At any time, you can click Update.
  • Click Update to begin downloading the necessary files.
  • Click OK to proceed.Your device may turn off and on a few times during the update process. Once complete the device will return to the Home screen.

J7 Incompatible With App After Update

Problem: There was an update on 1 of my game (boom beach by supercell). When i open the app, it redirected me straight to the play store to download the update. To my surprise, it says my device is not compatible with this update. I first thought it was an issue with app/dev of the app. I tried reporting it to both google and supercell. But later i realized it looking at other feedback, there are others affected as well. Mostly are also using J7. Same exact symptom. Although not many. i suspect it has something to do with this specific phone make and model. Coz it also affects other apps which are mostly games. Apps that were working before. But when there’s an update or if i have to download them again, it says the same thing. firmware is up to date. i haven’t done or changed anything recently on my phone.

Solution: This phone model is powerful enough to run the game. Since you mentioned that the phone is already running on the latest software update then this is most likely caused by a bug in the game update. Try uninstalling the game then download a newer version in the Google Play Store. In case the new version has not been released yet then you should wait for it to be released by the developer.

J7 S Health Keeps Stopping After Software Update

Problem: Ever since at&t or samsung updated their latest software.. I keep getting the message S Health keep stopping.. close app. This pops up every minute or so. I went into setting/ apps but I couldn’t find anything under that name for me to close it.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clear the cache and data of the S Health app from the application manager. If this doesn’t work then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

J7 Keeps On Downloading Software Update

Problem: I bought a used J7  it seems to work great but it keeps downloading update. When i install it says it was successful bit then proceeds to download them again and ask me to install them again. I am only on wifi as i have not had the phone switched over yet. Could that be the problem [no sim] or does it sound like bigger issue? I need help before i switch over to a phone that will not work.

Solution: It’s very likely that this is caused by a software glitch. If the software version of the update is the same as the one in your phone then do the following steps listed below.

  • Backup your phone data
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Perform a factory reset.
