J7 Unfortunately Settings Has Stopped

Problem: Hi , Thanks for trying to help me. I have a samsung J7 that was originally an ATT phone. It was unlocked when I bought it new.I used it as a hotspot with cricket for a few years then cricket stopped offering the hotspot. When I would try it would give me an error message. I don’t remember what that message was but cricket said I was getting it because they did not offer the hot spot.I have switched to Tmobile, mainly because they offer the hotspot and a good price for we 55+ers. Great but now when I try to turn on the hot spot the phone says “c” The kid in the Tmobile store fooled with my phone for maybe 20 minutes but could not get it to go. I went to youtube and watched a bunch of videos that were saying to go to settings-apps-settings-clear data- settings-apps-etc but it still gives me the error message.Well that’s my story and I am sticking to it…..hopefully you gurus know the solution. Thanks in advance for your site ….even if you don’t know how to fix my phone.

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to restart the phone then clear the cache of the phone. You can do this by going to Settings – Storage – Clear Cache. You should also wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

In case the issue persists then you should proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.\
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

J7 Google Account Not Syncing After Software Update

Problem: Since my last system update on Feb 28, 2018, my Google accounts will not sync. I have done every suggestion I can find, from manually forcing sync to removing/adding accounts, restarting my phone, clearing the caches, etc. It always reverts to a sync error. I can access my Gmail, but not Google contacts, on my phone (I have 3 different accts that have never had trouble before), but I can only access Docs/Drive from one account. If I try to re-add the others, it says the account already exists on my device and won’t go further. All of these accounts work fine on my computer. The perpetual sync error message is all I can get. I also checked for a system update just now, and it says everything is up-to-date. My last successful syncs were the date of this latest system update, so I suspect that is at the root of the problem.

Solution: It looks like the problem is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed from the phone. This old data causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue. The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete the problem should disappear.

J7 Not Installing Theme

Problem: When downloading any theme from theme store, it will download, but not install. Get error message. If I restart my phone, it fixes it temporarily. Same issue with downloading from play store. Also, when applying a theme from Samsung theme store, it doesn’t apply the entire theme. Everything but the little notification circles with the numbers are themed. It doesn’t do this with every theme, just about 80% of them. I’ve tried clearing the cache and restarting my phone, but that only fixes the error message I get when the theme is installing, it doesn’t fix the problem with applying entire theme. I’ve even done the recovery mode to wipe cache partition and doesn’t work.

Solution: If restarting the phone temporarily fixes the problem then it’s possible that this is caused by some form of software glitch. Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode to fix this problem. If this doesn’t work then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

J7 Ads Appear On Screen

Problem: hey so i have a galaxy J7. i’ve had it for about five or six months now but for the past two weeks i have been getting adds on my phone. to be clearer, not on any apps or chrome but on my homescreen. it fills my whole screen and another dangles from the top. i have blocked pop up ads and also ran two antivirus/malware apps on my phone. i have deleted apps that were of any concern and there has been no change. i’ve tried everything but going to AT&T to fix this problem.

Solution: It’s very likely that you have downloaded an app that displays some ads and you clicked on these ads. The best thing to do right now to fix this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
