J7 Power Button Not Working After Software Update

Problem: Since updating to the newest software update recently released the power button has ceased to close the screen or access the power menu. I did a factory reset which it started working perfectly for 22 hours but now will not work again! Not sure what to do now as it seems to be software related.

Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete restart your phone then don’t install any apps yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

In case it does then there are two things that you can do.

  • Wait for another update that might fix this problem. This will work if the problem is caused by a software glitch.
  • Have your phone checked at a service center which must be done if the problem is caused by a faulty power button.

J7 Moisture Detected In Charging Port

Problem: I have Galaxy J7 and i have had quite a few issues of water detection on my phone but this never messed up working of the phone as it just disappears after a few hours. But this time it was not going. I did some restarting and hair dryer blowing thing and it made the notification disappear. But post that phone doesn’t Fast charge, doesn’t connect to PC, doesn’t recognize any USB devices like Pen Drive. Can you help me with what might the cause for this issue. Thank you in advance.

Solution: Try to check if the charging port of the phone has any dirt or debris in it. If necessary, clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Once the port is clean try using a different USB cord to charge the phone and connect to your PC. In case the issue persists the next step is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. You will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If this does not fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

J7 Recovering Data From Water Damaged Phone

Problem: Hi. I dropped my galaxy J7 edge in the pool today. While it felt like slow motion, it was only submerged for about 2 full seconds. I immediately dried it off and went to the store for rice within 10 minutes. I can’t remove the battery but after going to buy a new phone, I found through research I could open the sim card slot. My phone wasn’t backed up. What are my chances of getting my contacts and photos back? Should I take it to a professional?

Solution: The only way you will be able to recover the data stored in your phone is if it is powered on. You should try placing your phone first in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb any moisture found inside the phone. Once this is done try turning on the phone. If the battery needs to be charged first then I suggest that you charge the device for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.

In case the phone does not turn on then you will have to bring this to a service center and have it repaired. Make sure to inform the tech that you don’t want a factory reset to be performed on the phone since you will be retrieving data stored in it.

J7 Heats Up Does Not Turn On

Problem: Hello, I have a samsung j7 while I was copying a movie on my usb from the usb connector device the phone started to heat up and then a heat notification appeared so they forced shut down the phone to cool it down but it didn’t so i soft reset and cool it down but then the flashlight turned on and the phone started to get hot. I repeated this process several times but I had the same result. So after 6h waiting when  it did not heat up because the battery was 0% so when I put it on charge it started the phone heat up and did not respond to turn on. I hope you will respond to me as fast as possible. Thank you

Solution: You should try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. This allows you to eliminate the charger that you are using as a possible cause to the problem. In case your phone still heats up then immediately disconnect it from the charger and turn off the device. You will need to have this checked at a service center as this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component, possibly by a shorted battery.
