J5 Stuck In Odin Mode

Problem: Samsung Galaxy J5 required update. Update initiated. Phone restarted. Android logo appeared on screen with the following text in the top left of screen. “Could not do a normal boot. COIN MODE Current Binary: Samsung Official System Status: Custom Knox Kernel: 0x0 Knox Warranty Void: 0x0 CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0X38 Waite Protection: Enable

Solution: It looks like your phone is stuck in Odin mode after performing the software update. This is a mode which allows consumers to flash the phone or manually install a firmware. The first thing that you need to do in this case is to force a restart. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. In case the issue still occurs when the phone starts then the next step is to perform a factory reset in recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

In the event that the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider flashing the phone with its updated stock firmware file. You can get this file as well as the instructions on how to flash your phone at the Sammobile website.

J5 Screen Is Unresponsive

Problem: I have to say that I’m completely dumb at troubleshooting. Anyways, my phone is a samsung J5 and the screen is unresponsive. Things to know, last year, I suddenly can’t use the phone while charging and just ignored it, because I thought I could just bear with it since Im still able to use the phone if it is not charging. Second, I accidentally dropped the phone one time and it made a small crack on the upper right corner, but was still working, so again, I ignored it because you can still use it. Now, yesterday after charging the phone, screen itself won’t respond anymore. Buttons like power, volume and home are still working because I was able to do a soft reset, put it on safe mode and even did the wipe partition process as per your troubleshooting step. But even after doing all that, screen was still unresponsive. I know you said that I have to look for a specialist but i’m desperate. Technicians at my country would either ask me to pay a lot and then make things worse or pay less for a short resolution. I don’t have any confidence in these specialist. Sending this email to see what other thoughts you may have since there were issues that I ignored before the screen got unresponsive. I would appreciate the efforts and thanks in advance

Solution: It looks like the problem is already caused by a damaged display assembly, most likely the digitizer is not working anymore. You can confirm this further by starting the phone in recovery mode then from here do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the issue still occurs after the reset then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. There’s a big possibility that you will be advised to have the display assembly of the phone replaced.

J5 Will Not Update

Problem: Hi, I’ve been trying to update an unlocked J5 I bought for my wife a year ago for the better part of a month now, I tried doing it with Kh smart switch, which allowed me to back it up and it went through the process of the update it showed 100% ( it updated in under 2 mins)  and then smart switch froze and nothing. I don’t know what to do here any help to get the update notification to go away would be awesome

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset on the phone. Uninstall Smart Switch from your computer then install a fresh version downloaded from the Samsung website. Once this is done try to do an update on the phone again using Smart Switch.

J5 Unfortunately Touchwiz Home Has Stopped Error

Problem: My device keep on popping up the word “Unfortunately, TouchWiz Home has stopped” i cant use my device because of it so i tried something that i saw on google to turn off to recovery mode and i saw this thing, Installing system updates then suddenly the android face shows error. Please help me with my problem. Thank you in advance!

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the Touchwiz app from the application manager. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to check if an app you downloaded is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the above step fails to fix the problem then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
