J5 Stuck In Bootloop

Problem: I have a Samsung J5 that was not purchased in the US. Recently gave it to an elderly to use and then it was brought back to me stating that it wouldn’t boot up. The phone a firmware update about 3 months ago and the day after the phone was updated it was stuck in boot loop with the logo screen. So I just received the phone today and obviously it wouldn’t respond to any of my attempt on hard/soft reset. So I tried to charge up the battery and the moment I plugged it in the logo screen was flashing rather than stuck on the screen. Any suggestions on how I can revive this phone? Thanks.

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then you should remove it. With the card removed charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. Once the battery has sufficient charge disconnect the charger then do  soft reset. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds Your phone should restart after this.

In case the issue still persists then you will need to start the phone in recovery mode then do the following steps:

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
  • Do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

J5 Does Not Charge

Problem: Hello. The phone that I have is a J5. Two days ago the charger I’ve been using for a few months that’s been charging my phone to 100% in a few hours even while it’s in use suddenly stopped working. Other chargers work on it fine, there’s nothing wrong with the phone. I haven’t got any money to buy a new charger, I’m going to have to repair the one I have. How should I do that? The cable looks physically fine and the light on the plug comes on, there’s no fraying, no lumps that would suggest that some wires have broken inside, and though I’d transported it a few days ago it was wrapped up in soft clothes the whole way. It might have gotten damaged that way but it doesn’t look damaged. But it must be damaged because my phone doesn’t know it’s plugged in when it is, the lightning bolt doesn’t come up on the . So what can I do about this? Thank you.

Solution: If your phone can charge when other chargers are being used then it’s very likely that there is an issue with your charger. The first thing that usually gets damaged is the charging cord. Try getting a new cord and check if the issue gets fixed. If it doesn’t then the charging block is most likely not working anymore. You need to get a new wall charger if this is the case.

J5 Randomly Freezes

Problem: Hi, My Samsung Galaxy J5  was doing random restarts. I followed the steps; cleaning cache, and then master reset. But the problem now is after doing factory reset, it froze on wiping data page. I may come out of it by pressing power+home+vol up. and repeat the steps but it freezes again somewhere while doing the wiping. I think it again starts to reset or something.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to remove the microSD card of the phone ( if you have one installed) then start the phone in recovery mode. From here you will need to do a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs after the reset then you will need to have this checked at a service center.

J5 Not Turning On After Getting Wet

Problem: Unluckily and erroneously, I had my J5 phone soaked into water for around 20 mins. When I reached to the phone and picked it up, it was already dead and it had water in it. I shook the phone to get rid of the maximum water inside it and then I used a hair dryer to dry it and kept it into sun (not direct sunlight) for around 3 hours and then plugged the cable to get the battery charged up and since then I have been trying to turn it on but It won’t. HELP!!!!!

Solution: It’s very likely that water has entered the phone and caused damage to some components. The best thing to do right now is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done charge the phone for at least 20 minutes then try turning it on. If it still does not turn on then it is most likely water damaged already. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
