J3 Failed To Send Text Message Error After Software Update
Problem: Hello, Since the last Samsung update, I have been having some issues sending text messages. the problem isn’t consistent, it only happens now and then, but it is annoying when you are trying to have a conversation via SMS/ Text. My text message will buffer and then i’ll get an error message that states “failed to send”“. I tried to restart my phone, clear the cache and I did a optimization under device maintenance. please let me know what i can do to fix this problem. thank you for your time,
Solution: Since you have already performed most of the preliminary troubleshooting steps that needs to be done for this particular problem yet the issue still persists then there’s a possibility that this is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. This old data is now causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this problem. The best thing you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete the issue should be resolved.
J3 Sending Text Message To Other Contact
Problem: Hi – I have a Samsung Galaxy J3.
1) This has been an ongoing issue with texting, however it has only involved a small number of my contacts.
Scenario 1: I receive a text from Mary … I respond … my message does Not go to Mary, but instead is sent to Bob.
Both are in my contact list, however their phone numbers are not remotely similar. It is not a truly random occurrence — it always ‘mixes’ the same 2 people, & it doesn’t seem to matter who initiates the new conversation, so the only work-around I’ve found is instead using the FB Messenger app (which requires internet access) whenever I need to contact either person.
2) This just happened yesterday, similar to my earlier problem but not identical.
Scenario 2: I sent a text to Ruth, she responds, back & forth, no problem with the conversation itself … however, at some point in the exchange my phone display changes to say I am having this conversation with Susan?! When I initially noticed, I exited the text program & restarted my phone … brought up the app, & now it showed Ruth’s name/number as if there had not been a problem. Today, in my message history, it again shows that the conversation was instead with Susan.
Both are in my contact list, again with completely different numbers. Scrolling back to view previous messages, the 2 separate histories have been merged. (If it matters, I have only texted with either one of them a few times so the volume of data is Very small.) Restarting made no difference. Thank you in advance for your help!
Solution: This problem is most likely caused by a software glitch. The first thing you need to do in this case is to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. You should also check your contacts list and make sure that no number is shared by two contacts. Finally, I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will allow your phone to start fresh and will most likely fix the problem.
J3 No Sound When Receiving Text Messages
Problem: The problem is, when I receive sms messages my phone vibrates but no sound. In settings they are both turned on but no matter what ringtone I use there is still no sound. All volume controls are max.
Solution: To fix this problem you should make sure that the stock messaging app of the phone is set as the default messaging app then proceed with the steps listed below.
- From a Home screen- navigate to Apps – Messages
- Tap the Menu icon located in the upper right.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Tap Notification sound then select an option
In case the notification setting of the text message app has already been set properly yet the problem still persists then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
