J3 Does Not Turn Back On After Sleep Mode

Problem: My 2017 J3 can be at 78% battery but if it is allowed to sleep or I manually press the side sleep button – the phone does not turn back on for quite some time. I have friends who have the exact same issue and these issues have only cropped up over the last few days for both of them too, my issue started today (8th June) after it died the previous night

Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to check if some software glitch is causing this problem. First, start the phone in Safe Mode. This is one way to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue occurs in Safe Mode then the next step that you will need to do is to backup your phone data then start the phone in recovery mode. From here you should wipe the cache partition of the phone then follow this up with a factory reset. Restart your phone then don’t install any apps yet. Try checking if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly, possibly the power IC. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J3 Battery Drains Quickly

Problem: Galaxy J3, bought new when they came out. It starting draining very fast at the end of a charge. It then started to shut off around 25%. As soon as you plug it in or place on the charging pad, it goes back up to 25% from zero. Now it shuts off at 90% and goes right back up to 50-75% when first plugged in. It seems to charge way too fast to be real. It died at 95% and when I plugged it in last, you stayed at 5%. I left it off and charged this way. It got stuck at 82% until I disconnected and reconnected a wired charger. It fully charged after 4.5 hours. It gets stuck at either 82 or 84% when charging quite a bit. I have screen captured that shows the battery drain going from 80 to zero and right away back up upon connecting and turning back on. I have tried all the suggestions from Samsung tech support to no avail.

Solution: For this particular issue you are going to need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This way you will be able to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. If the issue still occurs after the reset then the battery of the phone might need to be replaced already. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J3 Is Not Charging

Problem: I have had my galaxy J3 and the past 2 days it has not been charging. I have factory reset, cleared my device maintenance and got a brand new charger device with it being clean itself will not charge. It says it’s charging but the battery life won’t go past 4% is this a phone issue or can I get this fixed?

Solution: It looks like this is already a hardware related problem possibly caused by a faulty charging port or power IC. Since you have already performed most of the troubleshooting steps for this particular issue which doesn’t fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it repaired.

J3 Is Not Turning On

Problem: My phone battery is running low and the suddenly it shuts down. When I first charged it, there’s a blink indication of charging. But then suddenly the indicator loss and I tried to turn my phone on. My phone won’t start. It also cannot charge. It really stress me out! It already happened twice! I paid 400 to replace my battery and charging port. How come the same condition happened twice? I have used this phone for not even a year.

Solution: You should try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then charge the device for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Once the phone has sufficient charge disconnect it from its charger then turn it on by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the issue still persists then you will need to have this checked at a service center.
