Galaxy A3 Software Update Has Failed Error

Problem: From my samsung A3, I have recently downloaded the update (whatever it is) and the upload completes.  There is a spinning gizmo which seems to indicate that the upgrade is occurring. Then I get an error stating that the upgrade has failed.  When I check for updates again, it says that it is up to date and that I can check again in 20 hours. I have tried this update twice. I would rather not have to reset the phone because I have multiple folders and all of that work is forgotten even when I use Smart Switch to do the backup and restore.

Related Problem: Hi I have had a galaxy A3 for a while now, and every time I try to get an update it acts as if it’s working and then the message “unable to update software. A network or server error occured. Try again later. And there’s nothing wrong with my server or network . I believe there is some kind of spam app that’s on my phone that is keeping me from updating. Please help. Thanks

Solution: You should first try to verify the software version that your phone is running on against the latest software version that has been pushed by your carrier. If it is the same then your phone is already running on the latest software update. In case it is different then try the following steps listed below to update your phone.

  • Connect your phone to a computer with Smart Switch running. Smart Switch will detect if an update is available. Just follow the instructions on the computer screen to update your phone software.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check for the software update then update your phone accordingly.

Galaxy A3 Stuck In Bootloop After Software Update

Problem: The last software update  gave me the dreaded MMC fail error, phone sticks in continuous boot loop and last reboot killed Google Play Services, making most apps nonfunctional. At this point can’t even get it to complete a factory reset and see if that works.  Sprint customer service advises updating software, but apparently this error also potentially fries the motherboard. Sprint tech at service center advises that as Samsung no longer supports phone or makes parts, new motherboards are unavailable and they also no longer have the ability to flash the software for this particular phone. Samsung customer service says send phone in for $70 and be without it for 2 weeks to let them see if they can fix it with no guarantees. Anybody having any luck bringing their phone back from the dead?  If I am forced to buy a new phone due to Samsung’s forced torpedo, it will definitely NOT be a samsung.

Solution: If you are unable to perform a factory reset even in recovery mode then there’s a possibility that this is already a hardware related problem. I would suggest that you have this checked at a service center.
