Galaxy A3 Call Can’t Be Heard

Problem: I have a Samsung A3. Android 7.0. I’ve noticed over the last several months that most times in the middle of a lengthy call (usually 15 min or more) all the sudden the person I’m talking to can’t hear me. I can hear them just fine. Most times when this happens I am using my plugged in Samsung earbuds that came with the phone. If I remember correctly, it has also happened even without the earbuds. Also, I believe it always happens when I’m at home, albeit I have to admit I’m not on my cell phone for extended periods of time when I’m in the office. I’ve tried numerous things when it happens like unplugging and replugging in the headset, muting and unmuting, etc. It always happens in the middle of a conversation. I regularly (once per month) clear my cache partition and have tried many other things like getting rid of all excess apps. Safe mode isn’t really an option because it’s so intermittent I wouldn’t know when to do it, and all the threads I’ve read where people have done a factory reset say it didn’t help anything. I also read a thread that said ver 7.0 fixed the issue, but I’m running 7.0 and still experience the problem.  Many people have said it prevents them from making a phone call, but my issue always occurs well into a conversation.

Solution: Since the problem occurs intermittently it’s going to take some time to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to check if the issue occurs on a particular area. If it does then there’s a possibility that there is a network problem in that area. To resolve this you will need to contact your carrier.

In case the issue occurs regardless of location then the next step is to isolate the SIM card. Try using a different SIM card on your phone then check if the issue occurs. In case it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by your SIM or your account.

Once you have isolated the SIM and the network but then the issue still remains then proceed with the phone troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then you might have downloaded an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Galaxy A3 Video Calls Get Disconnected When On Mobile Network

Problem: Hi, when making video calls using my wireless network (not happening when I am on wifi), the calls cut off after about 6 minutes. I assume this has to do with a data amount rather than a timer, but on average it runs between 5 minutes and 30 seconds to 7 minutes. This will happen several times in a row. I’ve spoken with my carrier’s Tech Support and they insist that they do not employ throttling or any other data cut off that would cause this. It has been happening for months, but only on wireless networks, not when I am on wifi. Is there anything that you can think of that might be causing a data usage cut? I’ve checked all my own alerts and there isn’t anything obvious that would be causing it. Thank you in advance for any advice!

Solution: Sometimes this issue can occur if the phone is getting a spotty mobile data signal. If you see the phone signal changing from LTE to 3G then try going to a different area where you get a solid LTE signal. You should also check if a third party app you installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode then checking if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then you might have downloaded an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Galaxy A3 Stuck On GSM Network Mode

Problem: I’ve had my A3 for  a year and just now encountered this problem. My carrier is Appalachian Wireless. They were not able to fix it so I’m turning to you guys. My network mode is stuck on GSM and I cannot use my phone network at all. It needs to be on LTE/CDMA for it to work. It gives you the option to select that mode but instantly goes back to GSM. Nothing has changed on my phone. No new apps no new downloads. It worked perfect earlier today. The technician at Appalachian Wireless had not encountered this problem before. The phone has been restarted, network info reset, new SIM card and still nothing. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Solution: You should try doing a factory reset to fix the problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. In case the issue still persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by  faulty hardware component.
