M8 Mute Background Noise From Headphone Mic

Problem: When my headphones are plugged in on a call the mute icon is disabled and the caller can hear all the background noise through the headphone mic. Is there a way to mute in this situation?

Solution: Even with the headphones inserted you should still be able to access the mute feature of your phone. What software version is your phone running on? Try to check for any new software updates available for your phone and if there are any apply them.

If the problem remains then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
  • Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
  • The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
  • Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
  • Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
  • Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
  • Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.

M8 Speaker Sound Too Low

Problem: Ok so my phone landed straight on the face ,which I’m sure you know the speakers are on the front. They are not nearly loud at all now and I have to get my ear right on the speaker to be able to hear what someone is saying at all. Is there any way to maybe clean the speakers out or something to get the clear sound again?

Solution: The drop may have affected some hardware component inside your phone responsible for the speaker volume. Before bringing the phone to an authorized service center for checking hereā€™s what you could do to increase the volume of your phone speakers.

First, make sure that the volume is set all the way to maximum. Use the volume up button to do this and make sure that you see the volume indicator on the display increasing.

Second, the speaker of your phones will have grills on its cover. Check the grills for anything blocking the holes and clean it with a toothpick if necessary. If these holes are blocked then this may result in a reduced sound volume.

Third, restart your phone. The drop may have affected the phone software and a restart is one way of resetting your phone.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the issue then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

But some days it works perfectly and other days the sound works but not at full volume. I have uploaded a screenshot showing my music playing and the boomsound speaker icon on the top and there was no sound playing. Can you help me out. It would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Solution: Thereā€™s a big possibility that this is a software related issue. What you need to do first is to wipe the cache partition of your phone. This take out the temporary data stored in your phone that may be causing this issue to occur.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.

If the issue still persists then proceed with backing up your phone data and then do a factory reset.

  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.

M8 Speakers Randomly Makes Noise

Problem: Good morning. I’ve had a HTC one m8 for one month now and I’ve noticed an issue with my speakers, especially my top one.when I play certain songs or any sound in high volume the top speaker starts to make buzzy/fuzzy noises…it really really irritates me and I would be more than happy if you could help me out with this issue! Thank you very much.

Solution: You will have to check first if a certain third party app installed in your phone is causing this to happen. To do this just start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the default pre-installed apps are loaded while apps that you installed are disabled.

  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.
  • When the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ message appears, tap RESTART.
  • When the phone restarts it will be in safe mode.

Observe your phone if the issue still occurs. If it doesnā€™t then it may be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still persists even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.

If the problem still persists at this point then it may already be hardware related. Bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.
